The series has matured and becomes a Star Trek addition to look forward to. As before, in book III the writers' contest for volume IV is already announced.
As before Dean Wesley Smith applied his own tast (following some fairly strict rules for valid entries) on thousands of short Star Trek related stories sent in by the readers i.e. non-professional writers.
Although our taste does not completely match, the variety and diversity is such that every ST lover will find at leaest severel stories to his/her liking and the rest is thrown in for free and certainly worth reading also.
The usual divison in Star Trek, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager can be found, the newer versions hadn't been made in the year 2000 yet.
A very special story is in Klingon and looks like a one-off that will not be repeated. Of course, with a Klingon dictionary the translation is not so hard.

No book of short story anthologies is going to be perfect. Part of their appeal is the broadness of their scope, and this one is no exception.

The stories here cover pretty much all of Star Trek canon as existed at the time of its writing. So don't expect any Star Trek Picard or Discovery here.

I'm a TNG fan first and foremost, and found the stories from that series my favourite. That said, the stories that won first and second places were from TOS and DS9 respectively, and they were terrific.

I recommend this anthology to any Star Trek fan, no matter what your favourite series is. There will be something here for you to enjoy. Maybe plenty.

Really good. Third time is still as good as the first time. There was no extraordinary stellar story in here, & like the two book before it, there was one or two I questioned how they got in, but over all very enjoyable.
Looking forward to book IV.

Another collection of short stories. This book covers original, next gen, DS9 and Voyager. There's some fun ones, and some serious ones. I particularly liked the Uhura story with the gateway, Nogs time at the academy, and how a relative is missing someone on Voyager. A good read.

A good selection of stories from the Star Trek universe. It was fun to get a feel for each writer's style and ideas without having to commit to a novel-length story.
