With the possibility of a royal war on the horizon, Julie and Taylor are under pressure to step up their recruiting efforts.
Captain Kaplan orders Julie to complete her training. Now she has the full story, Julie has a better idea of the consequences if OPMA isn’t brought back to its full strength.
But three heads are better than one, even if one of their team doesn’t technically have a head.
Hat has an idea that takes the team deep into Avalon in their search for paras who are willing to stand up and fight for the right to live in peace.
While Julie and Taylor are working the recruitment angle, the heads of the seven families are preparing for the eventuality that the unrest rippling through the para world will erupt into violence.
Their presence at Julius Nox’s war council is all the inspiration the team need to put everything into their recruitment drive.
Taking one for the team doesn’t always turn out to be painful…
Julie is pulled back into her human life on their return when tragedy strikes.
In her absence, their enemies make their move, leading to a surprise discovery for Julie.
Can Julie, Taylor, and Hat save the heirs before disaster befalls the para world? How will it change her relationship with Taylor?
A long time ago I was born in Los Angeles. That's where I spent many of my formative years. After I became an adult, I moved around for a bit before ending up in a small town in Oregon, very similar to Bailey's hometown. Greenhearth is fake, if you haven't already Googled that, but it's like many small towns with less than 1,000 people.
My pets... I love animals, especially my two even if they do create havoc in my daily life. I have a cat, named Snowstorm, Storm for short. Then I have a rescue, Josephine. She's a Labradoodle - I think. It's hard to say but it's the best I can come up with.
What I'm working on... I'm already working on the next book in the series - was working on it before Bad Attitude came back from editing. And now that it has released, need to stay on track with A Bit Aggressive.

Lead is book four in the Para-Military Recruiter series by Renée Jaggér & Michael Anderle.
It’s a rollercoaster ride for Julie.
I’m devouring this series in KU. It’s an easy and fun read. We finally get an answer on what Julie is, but of course more questions. Julie and Taylor are put through the wringer as things heat up with the Eternal Throne and we have some interesting encounters with some dragons.
Lead answers some questions, but asks more and it gives us a little bit of sadness too.
If you enjoy Urban Fantasy that's heavy on the found family and action with a light romance then this series is for you. I enjoyed it.
What an amazing continuation of the story. I love Beltane celebration then her and Taylor went to. And how she managed to get so many recruits. And oh my goodness what she learns when she goes to visit the dragons is priceless. And the ending is something I have been waiting for for a while. You're in love that they have to go visit HR in the next book. Now I'm off to get that book.
Some sassy lines and plenty of new developments, some good and some bad, some I saw coming and others I hoped there would be a way around. All in all, a fun time!
While there is still a lot going on as I finished book 4, a lot was resolved and revealed as well. Best of all? I actually sighed in relief when it ended without a tail ripping cliffhanger!! ;-)
I would absolute recommend this series for anyone. There is moderate language and violence but no intimacy.
I've never really gotten into this component of SciFi or maybe Fantasy?? But I have gotten totally immersing in this... I'm starting my fifth book in the past two days!
8This book had practically everything you'd want in a story, and Julie is taken on the ride of her life, when she and Taylor really start their partnership properly, as the PMA's top recruiters.
I have to admit that I couldn't stop reading this book. It took me to places that I really loved, such as a Beltane celebration, where Julie and Taylor made an absolute killing in their recruiting game.
But not everything was fun and laughter, and I confess there was a part of this story that actually had me sobbing until my eyes were red and sore - I hadn't realised just how much I'd taken all the great characters surrounding Julie, to heart!
There was plenty of action and adventure, as usual, with Julie, and especially with Hat's involvement but, also, a lot of danger, as the seven heirs to the Eternity Throne are put into deadly danger, and it will take all that Julie and Taylor have learned, along with Hat, and some of their new companions, in order to make things right.
The surprises keep coming thick and fast in this book - especially in the second half of the book - and it had me almost breathless, as one secret after another gets brought to light and, as usual, Julie is at the very heart of it all!
I'm now going straight on to Book 5: 'Recruited', to find out what's going to happen next with Julie and Taylor's budding romance, but there's also a ton of things I want to know the answers to, so I'm off now and, once I'm done, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about what's happening next in this excellent series!
Julie and Taylor have picked up another gauntlet - to up their recruiting numbers. They refuse to lie or make false promises to get people’s to sign on, so that leaves offering something wanted, that can truly happen.
And since some folk are trying to destabilize the Eternity throne in a bid to usurp power, finding the right niche for diverse groups of paranormals is very necessary, to keep the freedom so many enjoy. But, what hasn’t been known, is how hunted the reigning house is. That nine heirs have been winnowed down to none… visible. And heirs of the other seven ruling families are now being singled out, too.
Worse, Dr Oleana, has told Julie that she isn’t human - her DNA doesn’t match that profile. So…what is she? And does she want to know? Not while Lillie is ailing.
But, not gonna lie, that bonus money is a nice kick in the head. Five thousand per head, not per group for both Julie and Taylor. So pulling in seventeen recruits in one sweep is some serious cheddar.
Julie and Taylor need to up their recruitments, there is trouble in the air, and they need to get as many people as possible. Julie also has the stress of Lillie being sick, her mother being around and the mystery of her blood saying she’s not human. On a trip to the Avalon wilderness, Julie and Taylor enjoy Beltane and manage to get more recruits. This leads them to a promotion and the orders to create better recruitment plans, including video pitches. Unfortunately, before any of this can happen, royals, including Taylors sister, Ilsa, are being kidnapped. Of course, Julie has to help. This book has some action, suspense, some big surprises and again, a lot of humour. This is a fun, quick, easy read, not too heavy but it definitely has some darker spots. It’s getting more interesting as the series goes along.
I received this Audiobook for free. My opinions are my own.
Real rating = 3.75* (I liked it better than the last one)
Disappointments: Despite this being book #4, some of the characters still seem very underdeveloped. / During the book Julie became responsible for a specific thing (no spoilers). Unfortunately I just recently read TWO other books where the main character became responsible for the exact same thing. I really hope this one takes it in a new direction.
Favorite Parts: Q-tana's cameo & the whole recruitment videos segment / Julie's mom went home + they had a conversation towards the end where the Mom seemed a bit more self-aware. / The direction a certain relationship took towards the end.
The narration continues to add to my enjoyment of the book.
It is kind of hard to review or comment here without giving the fun, fun, fun surprises away in book 4, Recruiter. We have the most wonderful trip through "Fairyland," which is not politically correct to say since everyone is not a fairy. And the dragons make a comeback in such a fun way, it is very cool. Our recruiters are hilarious as they sign up strange paras, on purpose and accidentally, and who knows how some will function. One of the big joys is how our teen werewolf volunteers are takin on such a dynamic role. A lot of fun in this world, as always.
Julie and Taylor are getting promoted and having some exciting adventures. They are helping keep Taylor's sister safe from the group of elves that want to start a war and also rescuing some heirs that were kidnapped. Julie also saves a dragon egg and finally finds out what she species she really is. I really enjoy this series and am looking forward to the next book.
I'm sorry to ask, but are we all reading the same book series? I was so excited seeing the high ratings and reviews, but I'm disappointed!!! What in the 'I'm new to this world and I know best' nonsense is this??? The way she keeps treating Taylor and talking about her mother has my teeth grinding. This series should have been named after Genevieve with how much it was mentioned. Everyone was smirking left and right in the book. I've endured the first 3 books hopping for a development......
I don’t know if there has been a book, in which I have read, that has provided so much adventure, action, character building and tears. YES, I said tears and NO I’m not providing any spoilers. You’ll have to find out for yourself! 🤣 I just wish I had started with this collection before I read Val Stonehold series because of the background/backstory of a lot of these characters. It isn’t necessary to read first, but makes more sense.
I will say two things about this book… have some tissues handy, and there os finally an answer to all those doctor’s followups. In between, Julie and Taylor are put through the wringer as things heat up with the Eternal Throne and we have an interesting encounter with some dragons. Enjoy!
I can't stop reading this series. It's like no other series, I have read. The characters are diverse, the story line seems to get more and more intriguing as the tale goes along. There's humor, action and lots of surprises. I'm now waiting anxiously for the next book in the series. It's addictive.
I love these guys. They work so well together . Finally she gets the designation. Finally she meets the dragons again. Finally they decide to date. There was some sadness - I miss Lillie too, but there was some growing and new life. Woot! woot! a baby dragon!!! I can't wait to find out who? How? Why? And does her mother know!?
Here be dragons. As if this story wasn't good enough to keep me reading way past lights out. Then the author brings a Dragon (egg) into it. Just when I was gathering the self discipline to sleep at least 5 hours before work. Oh we, sleep is overrated, 4 will (have to) be enough.
I’m enjoying the slow build of the relationship between the main characters and all the various plots, villains, and entertaining magical species. It’s good to get immersed in a different reality now and then because it keeps the door to possibilities open, even if it’s just a crack. Enjoy 👍👍👍💜
Another really great book in this excellent series!!!!
Congratulations to Renee Jagger and Michael Anderle for this intriguing series. It’s extremely hard to find such interesting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in their stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
We're getting more background and history here. No real surprises in that regard as the foreshadowing was practically shouted in my face, but again it's still a fun, quick, fast paced read with action. So if you like an UF that's heavy on the found family and action side of things while being very light on the romance then this is a good option for you.
With the slow progress, I see the hand of Michael Anderle. The series should end up being what? Fifty books? The padding and insane side stories are in full force.
The Mustang is still around and, like a bad rash, won't be going anywhere soon.
There is some plot movement but the story arc keeps getting longer and longer.
Best one….so far!!! Boy this series just keeps getting better!! Last one of the box set (glad I got this…couldn’t have coped getting them one at a time!!). Well, Julie certainly goes through the ringer in so many ways in this one…and there some interesting hints of what is coming. Lots of old and new friends included….and a few new enemies too. Dying to find out what happens next….
When you are so successful at your job usually you get a promotion. But the author goes in for something more creative, training the entire division. Other things are changing as well and we get to explore a more romantic side. Then, of course, we have the normal excitement, new creatures and more personal news.
Well she's lunar fae, hidden family as well, so maybe she's the future ruler!? Since it's mentioned that she has a blocking head lets see what happens with it gone.video think she gets the house and car.
This was a fun and interesting story with good characters that are easy to like. The story was fast paced and I didn't want to put it down and I wait impatiently for the next book.
Recruiter extraordinaire continues her work in progress. Her relationship with the landlady deepens and some new mysteries arise. Note: I do not put out spoilers! Read this book to see what happens, though I see dragons in your near future.
It was inevitable. I won’t put a spoiler in, but sometimes you just know. Glad you waited until the 4th in the series. You keep kickin’ butt! Your mind is AMAZING Thank you Jeff Howell
Finally! I honestly thought this would never happen. Some discoveries and very cool progress in this book. What is special about Julie? RAFO! I've worried about this story losing momentum, but so far so good! Hoping it continues forward just as strong.
Continue on a great reading journey. These are some great books and I am very happy about them. Looking forward to more and anxious to see how the romance parts are going. This is an excellent series.
The world building keeps me riveted to this series. Each new area that Julie and Taylor visit is so well described and designed for the paranormal foundthere. It makes it so easy to visualize.
