Lucy V. Parker explains the requirements, the challenges and the rewards of a home-based writing business in an easy, logical and insightful way without overwhelming the reader in any way. The book was quite enjoyable and I found it very motivating and gratifying as well with the highlighted real-life examples of successful freelance writers that Parker profiles to substantiate her smart explanations.

The content is quite current although this 4th edition is a 2004 publication. This is because, much of the author's advice are standard rules with basic common sense and smart research perspectives which makes the book a good reference guide for people planning a career in writing.

However, for those seeking a more current guide-book of this nature, a 5th edition published in 2008 is available and perhaps, another updated edition is in the pipeline; slated for publication within this year or next I reckon.

Overall, this is a neatly packaged, down-to-earth and cleverly written handbook. The bibliography alone is value for your money.

It was very, very basic. It wasn't anything that a person can't find online for free.
