Very nicely put together pictorial guide to the film career of British leading man Dirk Bogarde (Derek Jules Gaspard Ulric Niven van den Bogaerde).
To compliment the superb array of film stills, the author provides an excellent written commentary on each of Bogarde's performances with added quotes from the critics of the day.

From "Idol of the Odeons" to being acclaimed as a great international star with an astonishing array of brave and brilliant characterizations. Among the highlights included are "The Blue Lamp"/ "Hunted"/ "The Spanish Gardener"/ "Libel"/ "Victim"/ "King and Country"/ "Accident"/ "Death in Venice" and his BAFTA winning Best Actor roles in "The Servant" and "Darling."

With an introduction summarizing his illustrious career in front of the camera and a chronological listing of his films, theatre and television appearances through the years.

Review based on original Ebury Press (London) hardcover edition, 1988. 192 pages.

Both myself and my boss at work Mara had a thing about Dirk and we were forever trying to discuss his films but before this book we were always saying you know the one where he is in an old cardigan this book helped us out.
