My Review: It became clear immediately that this is a series of books that needs to be read in order. The fact that I hadn't read the first book left me struggling to gain my bearings with the setting, storyline and characters. I was expecting to learn a little more about the whole state of Utah instead of just one isolated area, so that was a little bit of a disappointment. I also found it extremely odd that while these kids are supposed to be home schooled they seem to be far more intelligent than the adults (to the point of being awkward). The mysterious device did add an interesting element to the story and it does make me a little curious to find out more.
