Just finished reading "India 60", a compendium of essays on the 60th anniversary of India's independence. There are contributions from stalwarts like Lord Meghnad Desai, Inder Malhotra, Jaithirth Rao, Suman Sahai, R.A. Mashelkar and others on topics as varied as politics (of course!), literature, arts, architecture. It is a kind of stock-taking of the progress (or otherwise) in the 60 years since India gained independence.

Excerpts & opinions from several writers compiled into one, this book sounded a bit biased to me at some instants.
