Not a bad story, but nothing special either. Stark building and Iron Man suit in prison without anyone noticing is beyond ridiculous though. There were lots of gaps in the story that really made the whole thing feel very rushed and incomplete. The underlying story, that Stark has for years been the victim of a shadowy criminal organization, was mostly glossed over and ignored.

Perfectly decent comic that serves the purpose of introducing a version of Whiplash similar to the one appearing in Iron Man 2, aka a Russian one. The original Whiplash was Italian I think. This is, again, boilerplate Iron Man but the ending in which it's heavily implied Whiplash squashes his beef with Iron Man in order to go to Moscow to kill Vladimir Putin is hilarious.

The story was an interesting superhero mystery, which is out of the ordinary plots for this genre.

Nothing remarkable besides that.

The ending saddened me quite a bit, with the death of Tony's clones and that's why I gave it 3 stars.

I think that was the worst Iron Man comic I read so far. The story was uninspired, concieved, convulted and neither of the characters felt like themselves at all. The only good thing about this is the fact that in comparison it makes Iron Man 2 a really good movie.

Everyone I know always say that 'Iron Man 2’ is the worst movie in the MCU so far. It doesn't have enough action, the villain is stupid and predictable, suddenly there's another Rhodey,...

To those people, I can only say this:

This graphic novel is supposed to give an introduction to the new villain 'Whiplash', while also continuing through 'The Invincible Iron Man' series of the comics.
Readers of the classic Iron man will remember a different Whiplash, who was an even more ridiculous villain
description
Yep... He wore a SM-outfit...

In this story, we get introduced to the new Whiplash we also get to meet in the movie. To be honest, Anton Venko is a complete different person in the comic than he is in the movie. He still seeks for revenge against Tony, but for a whole other reason this time.
His outfit looks a lot cooler, and they even gave him some resemblance from the Whiplash in the animated series of the '90s.
It's a short story, and a bit predictable. But if you seek a better version to look at the life and motive of Anton Venko, this novel will satisfy you.

Just a last word about the art. Although the cover art looks realistic, the art inside is what you can expect from the comics nowadays. It's pretty with enough detail, and pictures the action perfectly.

Apparently the purpose of the book was to introduce Whiplash before the first Ironman movie came out, I get that. And there is the typical misunderstood super good gut thing going on too. The artwork is nice, but not great.

It was alright. Predictable in all of the Marvel sort of way...

A pretty generic story but it was fun. This was mostly nonsense but it was a nice read. I liked the artwork a lot. So if you want a fun read this is not bad.
