Evan Lowell Maxwell (b. 1943) began his writing career as a journalist.. After several years as international crime reporter for the Los Angeles Times, he retired except for occasional freelancing, in order to focus on his work as a novelist. Under his name he has written two novels, but the vast majority of his published novels have been co-authored with his wife, the bestselling author Ann Maxwell. They started to write under his wife name, because the publisher preferred to use a woman's name to published romances for marketing reasons . The also co-autord novels under the pseudonyms of A. E. Maxwell and Elizabeth Lowell. Their dauther Heather, also published novels under the pseudonym of Heather Lowell.
