Dark Double Duet #1

Fool Me Twice

Rate this book
Ivy

After a simple misunderstanding led to years of bullying, I thought I could leave high school and gain my freedom. But the Cleavemore twins choked the life out of that dream when they roped me back in. Identical in every way, I'm fascinated and terrified by their viciousness and beauty.

Everything in this world belongs to them, especially my suffering. But I’ll be damned if I give it to them.

They fooled me once, and that was on them, but what's my excuse for falling back into their clutches?

Render & Tristan

Ivy, our creeping vine, the insidious weed that snaked into our lives, cracking our foundation. She thought she could change us forever and escape with her life intact, but we never stopped watching.

Three long years have passed, and we've been forced to endure her absence. She thought she could leave us, but nothing in life is free. We own this school, we own this city, and we own her.

Cleavemore men always collect.

‼️‼️AVOID‼️‼️

Twins bully her in HS cause they are obsessed with her and she rejected them.
Then 3 yrs later she comes back for college (by their hand?) and they start their bullying again. But they have been obsessed with her all this time and will keep her.

‼️The whole time through their bullying and obsession they sleep with OW. So yeah nope! Not for me.

I even asked the author she said YES they were sleeping w OW cause if their “ISSUES”

I don’t do dark obsession reads when the H sleep w OW… period… it kills the “obsession” part and becomes unbelievable. I know it’s dark but nah no thanks

Read this because Aurelia Knight’s Mind to Bend was psychopathic fun. Not as captivating.

This is typical MFM mixed in with high school bully. The two male love interests are identical stepbrothers. I don’t get their obsession with her. It’s a little bit of a flimsy case of insta-lust/revenge after misunderstanding rejection.

I had high expectations with this book. Two amazing authors coming together to write this duet. Obviously is has to be good right? Well, let me tell you, they did not disappoint. I swear to you, I was fully invested in this book by chapter two. That doesn’t happen often. I would’ve read this in one sitting but life got in the way. Well… my children got in the way.

The boys are identical twins. Render and Tristan. Tristan is the crazy twin and Render is the more sensible one. Tristan is the twin that wanted to hurt Ivy more but Render never let him go as far as he wanted to. They truly even each other out. Render was still a dick but has a soft spot for Ivy. The further I got into this book the more I realized why. Render is my lil baby. He made my heart flutter so much.

“But not me. I planned this entire evening for you. I’d do anything to feel this right cunt”

I mean… he might as well be giving her flowers right?!

“Sometimes I see Ivy standing in the sunlight, and the sight of her is so beautiful it’s like having my chest ripped open…”

Render made me swoon so much! My lil baby.

Then you have psycho Tristan who loves to fuck with his twin. He made me laugh quite a few times. The little shit. He ends up showing his soft side too. I did swoon over him a few times.

“…I even said please.”

That’s how he shows his love. He uses his manners.

As I said before, I was fully invested in this by chapter two but when I got to chapter seventeen? I was feral when I had to put this down. I was at the edge of my seat. It was a snowball rolling down a hill. Getting bigger and bigger until it hits a tree and falls apart. That’s what the end of the book felt like. Lots of things come to light. Lots of “double dickage” and threatening going on. Did I mention there’s a primal chase through the woods? No? Well there is and it did it for me. Then Ivy had to ruin everything for me but don’t worry, Tristan fixes it… maybe? I’m not sure because IT WAS THE END!!!! This is when the snowball hits the tree. Now I have to wait for book two and I’m not sure I can. I need to know what happens. And I definitely need to know more about that first kiss.

Read this. You won’t be disappointed. It’s perfect. Lots of kinks. Some “You” feels. Laughs. Screams. WTF moments. I think I now have an “under the bed” kink. Really loved this one.

Didn’t realize this book was co-written by an author I had read in the past. Dislike her writing style. Cumbersome, not cohesive, yet under developed. Dnf 3%.

Accidentally picked it up again not realizing I had attempted to read it before. Still the same issues with writing. Convoluted. Really wish I could read it. Dnf again, this time at 4%!

Short MFM Dark Romance story (under 200 pages)

2 MMC'S are twin brothers, Tristan and Render / Heroine is scholarship student, Ivy.

Story of Dark obsessive love, college setting, full of triggers so I suggest checking the TW. The obsession and, the lengths the twins go to in this story....😲 wow! Ends in Cliffhanger...

I look forward to reading book 2 - "Shame On Me" out on 25/8/23

When Ivy returns to her high-school town and attends Cleavemore University, she could never have expected her two biggest bullies still waiting for her return, but they never really lost tabs on her because the obsession runs deep and just like they're apart of one another, Ivy is just as much apart of the Cleavemore Twins.

Render and Tristan have wanted to make Ivy's life hell from the moment she turned her back on them, the rumors spread, each of their moves calculated to torment her in cruel ways to remind her of her place. That she belonged to them, but with her return came a backbone and this time she wasn't going to let them in. Except they're already in and they're stepping up their game.

An unhinged pair or twins who are both different and identical in more ways then one? Comedic relief and bullying that causes tension that has you questioning, do I want them to fuck or fight? Its everything you want for two obsessed twins who finally got the girl who got away. Aurelia and Stephanie have knocked it out of the park and this book kept me turning pages, the spice alone was enough but add in the tension that was almost tangible and the touch her and die vibes plot. It was everything we needed it to be.

The twin bully romance of my dreams. I don’t even have words to describe the experience that is this book. Aurelia and Stephanie have out done themselves. This book is on the shorter side but never feels rushed. You can feel everything that Ivy Ren and Tris feel. All of them are so different but they need each-other. The amount of feelings that is packed into this book is astronomical hate love longing all of it. Touch her and 💀 isn’t just a vibe for the twins. Also screw Bryce that dickhead. There’s so much I could say but I don’t want to give away anything so I will end here. I cannot believe the ending I’m needing book 2 immediately thank you.

Wasn’t a fan. I felt like there should have been more character development in the beginning. Spice was great, but the brothers were soooo weird.

“Remember, Ivy. I’m a man of my word, and when I tell you I intend to use your body whenever I want, I mean it.”

Fool Me Twice is the blackest of black romances! So dark. So depraved. Absolutely addictive. It is not the book to read if you have triggers, for there is no fairytale romance contained in these pages. It checked so many of my black heart’s boxes - I found myself devouring every word and cannot wait for the next book.

Know going in that this is not a love story. Read this book if you are into toxic relationships, obsession to the point of hating someone, and NC/coercive relations. The twins do many deviant acts in the name of possession.

This is fast burn with intense, explicit MF and MFM scenes.

Fool Me Twice ends on a cliffhanger.

Holy moly!!! Aurelia and Stephanie deserve around of applause for this book. Ladies, I normally can read a dark, dirty romance in public with no reaction, but your book had me blushing a lot. The dedication should have given me some idea of the ride I was in for:

"For all the dirty sluts who like to be called "good girl" even though they don't deserve it. The twins are more than happy to put you in your place."

Trying to find the right words to describe this book is hard. There is just so much to say. I don't think I ever wanted to jump two people bones and punch them both in the face at the same time. Those are my feelings for Render and Tristan.

The up and down emotional ride these two do to Ivy is just crazy. She has lost so much, and all she wants is just to make friends and not feel alone. In high school, the King twins made her life hell. She tries to keep her head down at college, but of course, the twins won't have any of that. Render and Tristan will show everyone why Ivy is theirs and theirs only. No one touches what belongs to them.

This story does leave on cliffhanger, but oh, what cliffhanger. I cannot wait for the second book, "Shame On Me," to come out.

These men had me in a chokehold from the very beginning. This is one of my favorite books in 2023. Render and Tristan have my heart until they are done with it. The spice between the twins and Ivy is top-notch. I loved the banter between the twins and how Ivy couldn't get enough of the things even though she knew they were trouble. These men are MORALLY BLACK. They hold nothing back. They are the epitome of bad boys. They will definitely do anything to make sure Ivy is in sight. They won't let her get far.
If you love a very dark, bully romance, this book is definitely for you! These have so many trigger warnings so read them carefully before you start the book. In my opinion, I love books with lots of trigger warnings, so this book was great for me!
Aurelia and Stephanie did such an amazing job with this book. I can't wait for the next book. That cliffhanger left me wanting so much more. I am so glad that the next book is coming up in a few weeks.

Rollercoaster!

Oh my gosh, the freaking ROLLERCOASTER this book put me through! It was dark, depraved, and oh so good. I kept teeter tottering between love and hate for Render and Tristan as they made me so mad! The ending, THE FREAKING ENDING!! I was reading, and then it caught me off guard with THE END. I was so so mad it ended because it was so good and I needed more! I can't wait for book 2! Ivy is going to be such a bad ass.

I 100% enjoyed this book, it's full of angst and so damn spicy.
The twins are walking red flags, you just can't help but want. Tristan being the aggressive and short tempered twin, while Render seems more calm & collected to a certain extent. They are both insanely possessive, obsessed and over the top, I loved it 🖤

After being bullied for years in high school by the Cleavemore twins, Ivy left for 3yrs to return more confident, defiant and have a backbone towards them, fueling more angst between the trio. Which im here for as it is very entertaining 😈

I enjoyed this very much and would have read it in one sitting if I didn't have to sleep.. but it is what it is.
I can't wait for book two!!

If you love bully romance and unapologetic MMC’s, you’ll probably enjoy this. Render and Tristan are possessive to the extreme and don’t want anyone to touch what they’ve claimed.

Fool Me Twice is the first book in the Dark Double duet and follows Ivy as she transfers back to Cleavemore University. She was bullied by Render and Tristan throughout high school and they are more than willing to remind her of that upon her return with the added reminder that she belongs to them and only them. She’s trying to find her own way only for them to keep pulling her back to them.

This book was a wild ride filled with questionable behavior on all parts. Ivy wants the guys but doesn’t want to want them, so she’s fighting with her own feelings. Meanwhile the guys want her, but also want her to suffer for ever leaving in the first place. The dynamic is intense and is very much a “I hate how much I want you” vibe.

I really enjoyed this one and I need book two after seeing how that one left off. I knew Bryce was going to be bad news but I’m very intrigued by what will be left in the wake of that disaster.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book just wasn’t what I thought it would be. I absolutely love dark romance. I have basically no triggers and will read pretty much anything, but there were points in this book were it went too far. Instead of the tension that happens when you have dub con or non con, this book just straight out depicted rape. There was nothing to up the angst or tension between the characters. Ivy was drugged and raped in her sleep. To me, that didn’t further the plot or help to build the relationship between the characters at all. I think if you are going to have scenes that are that dark, there needs to be purpose and I just didn’t see the point. I think the same thing could’ve happened with her awake and we could’ve seen her internal battle between wanting it and hating it.

There were so many times when I thought this book was going to be great. Something would build and then just kinda fall flat. It felt like there were so many ideas that the authors couldn’t fully explore them all.

We also really didn’t get any back story to any of the characters. We know Ivy was bullied and that the twins are the Kings, but we don’t get to see their trauma or get to know the characters intimately. I wish we could’ve had more of the twins back story besides the few snippets where they said their mom didn’t love them. I also wish we could’ve seen how they all met and this whole mess started.

Overall, the book felt under developed to me.

Ok so I was given the wonderful opportunity to have this book as an arc for review. The authors are so lovely and this is my first book by them. It was a bit too dark for me! I would say pitch black. Now, I have read dark romance before and some books I love some books are too much. Yes I did read the triggers and tropes before hand yes thought that I could handle it but maybe just wasn't in the right mood. I did get triggered but is my own fault not the lovely authors. Please look up triggers before reading! Now I did like their writing so I will read other books by Stephanie and Aurelia. I've read other authors and some of their books I like some I don't. I'm not going into details on the things I didn't like because I don't want to spoil anything and don't want to throw any shade anywhere so we'll leave it at this....not for me but others may love it (from the reviews a few people do love it!) and good luck to the authors on their future projects. I kind of do want to know what happens but maybe I'll just ask them instead lol

This book is HOT and a fast burn! 🔥 Ivy has been bullied by two attractive twins, Tristan and Render, all through high school. After graduating, they went their separate ways… as least that’s what Ivy thinks. The twins have been keeping an eye on her for the last three years.

They run into each after after Ivy switched colleges after the passing of her mother. The twins become obsessed with just the thought of her and starts to stalk her. Wherever Ivy went, the boys followed.

Ivy tries not to show her true feelings about the twins, while the twins flat out confessed their love because they are THAT obsessed! 😆

Ugh - Can we talk about that cliffhanger!? I NEED to know the details of what happened between Tristan and Ivy when Render left them alone in the supply closet… 🤭

Please check your triggers, as there are talks of parent loss and suicidal ideations.

Tropes:
- Enemies to lovers
- Bullies
- High school rivals
- Twins 🥵
- Non & dub con
- Obsessive/OTT MMC

Tropes/Trigger Warnings: dark contemporary, bully university// for sanity sake check ALL of the trigger warnings! You've been warned.

Coupling Type: MFM with twins

Characters: MMF: Ivy MMC: Render, Tristan

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Favorite Quote/scene:"You were made to be used. That's why you're so f*cking wet for men who hate you. Who's pathetic now?" he adds, twisting the proverbial knife.

Over all thoughts on book and/or author: These two take bullying and stalking to a whole new level. Ivy tried to be tuff and stand her ground, but Tristan and Render were too deep in her psyche for her to excape. This book maybe too much for some readers, there are some scenes that will cross the lines for most. If you love dark and depraved men you will love this book.

“You shouldn’t have come back here, Ivy. There’s nowhere on this campus for you to hide.”

Ok, not to be dramatic but I would d*e for these two amazing authors and for them to continue to write together.

The relationship between the twins Tristan and Render had me lol-ing so much, the dynamic was 🤌

Touch her and die vibes x1000

“One day, she will give us a list of names of every man who has touched her, and we will wipe their existences from this earth.”

This was so well written and so many lines gave me actual cold chills.

And Chapter 11, you will live in my head rent free 🙃

Tristan and Render are 🔥!

I literally could not stop reading this book! I'm so glad I got to be on their ARC team!

Twins craving to degrade, own, and possess one girl, whom they've convinced themselves they hate.
They're the elite. The popular rich boys who own the town. She's the poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks.
But what happens when she's put in a position where she needs them to help her? Will they be there for her or watch her burn?

This is part 1 in a duet and does end in a tasty little cliffhanger, leaving you thirsty for more!

What did I just read?? lol ok TWINS is my new obsession, I think I need to find some now lol OK, back to the book! This was a great book but check the warnings first! This is very much a non-con situation. The twins have an obsession with Ivy and will stop at nothing to make sure she belongs to both of them. They make some questionable decisions alone the way while trying to decide how to handle her. There is a cliffhanger! I'm now dying to see what happens next......

The banter between the brother Render and Tristian is perfection. I found my self laughing at their interactions! This is a really good dark romance but I strongly suggest checking the triggers before reading it! The cliffhanger will have you screaming at your kindle so don’t say I didn’t warn you!

what did I just read?!!? I'm so invested! This is DARK so check the triggers. I can't tell if these boys are completely and utterly unhinged or just crazy in love with her that she drives them insane. or both. This is MFM...twins.. The humor definitely adds to it and I love the twins relationship. Ready for the second part of this!

i wanted to like this one so bad. had it borrowed on kindle for a longest time but i knew aurelia’s writing can be dark so i gave it some time before i got into it. then i finally decided to get into it a few days ago.

i regret it.

the cover is gorgeous, it’s a trois a menage, i had very high hopes. however, the writing is bland and repetitive. very bleak and almost seems aimless. they’re building this story that’s a high school/university bully romance that’s based on the fact that she rejected them plus some miscommunication. it’s all very silly.

it’s awkward but it feels like they were trying so hard to make this dark that instead it comes off as a snoozefest.
