Several of my 4th grade teachers do a project each year where the students read through a variety of ABC books and then create their own version using various topics--most recently, an ABC of the American Revolution. This book allowed me to touch on State history, biography, history of the alphabet, and provide a lead-in to this neat project. Loved the brief write-up on Wilma Rudolph--it led me and several students to look up more information about this amazing TN lady.
I got to enjoy a visit from Michael Shoulders at a professional development conference this week. He was the treasure he always has been. Inspirational for teachers and writers of any age and informative about Tennessee and beyond!
