Had to read it to plan for our move. The book has some useful tips but it is a bit complicating the process in a way that make it seems like a never ending project. I managed to build on the proposed process and came up with a much easier straight forward plan.
This book was VERY helpful when I had to move my library's collection. It helps you measure your current collection and then figure out how much shelf space you will need at your new location with growth in mind. It will actually tell you the number of shelves you need! It worked flawlessly for me and I really appreciated it! The Excel file included (via download) was especially helpful as it does the math for you.
I read this in the hopes of finding some solutions to our library roof disaster and the relocation of 80,000 items. Basically, this book is designed to be used in a non-crisis situation, however I was able to glean a few tips from its pages like how to keep boxes in order and what types of ideas just don't seem to work for moving a library. Not bad, but I had hopes that it wouldn't be so idealistic in its information.
