From the author of One G-String Short of Crazy, a sexy tale with a paranormal twist puts one unsuspecting woman in the center of a dangerous struggle between her conniving dead husband and her irresistible immortal lover.

Widowed with two small children, Riley Tyson is devastated when her husband, Bradley, is murdered. She doesn’t miss his fiery temper and heartless philandering, though. In fact, now that he’s dead, their relationship is better than ever. Bradley’s spirit sneaks into her bedroom at night, tempting her with gentle, seductive caresses and showering her with the attention he never gave her in life. It seems too crazy to be true. Until he drags her unsuspecting soul into a world so evil even Lucifer won’t go near it. . . .

Enter Malik Davenport, Riley’s boss and longtime friend. At six feet seven, with smooth, almond-colored skin and vibrant blue eyes, Malik rarely goes unnoticed. An ancient warrior prince who specializes in slaying demons, he’s the only man who can save Riley’s life— and the only one whose passionate touch unleashes the sexy vixen inside her.

As Bradley’s ruthless spirit orchestrates a deadly power surge against the living, Malik and his team of paladins prepare for a war of the worlds that has been brewing for ages. If they win, Malik and Riley can be together forever, but if they lose, the fate of humanity hangs in the balance.

I have always loved books. I distinctly remember my first board book, it was about a bunny and I carried it around with me constantly. I was six-years- old and have been reading ever since. It was only natural for me to become a writer.

I self-published my first novel, Bourgeois Blues in 1997. Since then, I was very fortunate to be published by Simon & Schuster. With Simon & Schuster, I have published the following novels:

Crazy Love - 2005
Cruising - 2006
One G-String Short of Crazy - 2009
Spiritual Seduction - 2010

I am very excited with the new trends in publishing and have decided to give digital publishing a try. Here is a listing of my E-books:

Chocolate & Pecan Swirl (Erotica)
G-Strings, Thongs, Blogs, Oh My! (Erotica)
My Husband & My Wifey (Erotica)
Saturday Love (Erotica)
Two Men are Better Than One (Erotica)
The Return of Wifey (Erotica)
Chubby Chicks Rule (Young Adult)
The Committee (Inspirational Romance)
This Isn't Barbie's Dream House (Romance)
15 Soothing Bible Verses and Affirmations for Single Moms (Self help)

She is presently working on her next novel.

She lives in Georgia.

Life After Death,

Riley is a married teacher with two beautiful children, but she's married to a horrible man, Bradley Tyson. Despite the physical and mental abuse, Riley continues to make her life and marriage perfect until one night her husband is murdered. Riley's life begins to change in more ways than she can keep track of when she begins having dreams of Bradley in which he acts as a perfect husband. Riley goes with the flow and still continues to stay faithful to her husband, even if she only sees him in her dreams. But there may be something more sinister at play. Will Riley determine the true meaning of her dreams and relationship before it's too late?

Desiree Day's "Spiritual Seduction" is a fantasy novel with an incredible twist which leads readers into Day's sci-fi world. This was a very interesting novel where Desiree Day uses her intrigued imagination to create an unusual novel.

To be honest, I didn't finish this book. I thought I could, and I made it about half way through, but it just didn't do it for me.

I understand that this was supposed to be a racy, smutty book, but I could have done without the overuse of certain words, especially by Riley. I thought this was going to be a paranormal book but it was more of a graphic sex novel. The dialog was very lacking, and not very believable. Carter, the little boy, seemed to speak far beyond his age, which also didn't help the believability of this book. I couldn't relate to any of the characters, and the story development didn't capture me.

I haven't read anything else by this author, and after this book, I don't think I will. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Let me start off by saying that I contacted Desiree Day and asked to review her latest book, Spiritual Seduction. I haven’t read her earlier work, but was truly interested in reading a paranormal romance novel by an African American author. Having said that, here is my review.

This book wasn’t for me. Like I stated before, I love a good paranormal story, but while reading Spiritual Seduction I realized this is more of a romance novel/erotica novel. The paranormal part wasn't believable.

Spiritual Seduction is written in the third person. As a reader, I was able to see the thoughts and feelings of the main characters but it didn’t pull me “into” the story. The narration style "told" the story of Riley and Malik and didn't allow me to experience it.

There were also lines like:

“That man is harder to catch than a straight man in San Francisco”

“This room looked like Aretha Franklyn was in it getting ready for an awards show before you cleaned it up”

“Hold on. I’m starting to feel like the last turkey wing at a Thanksgiving dinner”

“They all swarmed on me like I’d just lost my last penny playing the lottery.”

“Although their normal living quarters seemed as secure as a virgin’s chastity belt…”

This kind of dialogue is used by all of the main characters or used in a descriptive manner throughout the novel. I really would have liked more third person descriptive text than getting it from the characters. It made the characters less believable to me.

Day delivers with her erotica scenes. But the excessive use of certain words (rhymes with wussy and rock) were a turn off. There are certainly places in most any novel where they would fit. I was just disappointed that they were used in almost every sex scene between Riley and Malik.

The biggest issue for me was there was no world building. The reader is simply expected to believe that Demons and demon slayers existed. Period. You’re given the background of Malik’s heritage as a warrior prince, in a story he told to Riley. In my opinion, this is the weakest part of the novel. I wish more time were invested in world building more than just detailing background facts in conversations between the characters.

Fans of Day’s previous work, will probably disagree with my review. But as I've always stressed - my reviews are my own opinion.

I had a very hard time deciding whether I wanted to give this book one star or two stars. I didn't want to give the book a one star rating because I finished reading the book, which means I wasn't bored out of my mind reading it. On the other hand, I didn't want to give the book two stars because I don't want to imply that this book is worth reading.

I thought this book was rather simple. A no brainer. The story is just told to you and you read it. There's nothing to think about, nothing to consider, nothing to speculate about, no conclusions to deduce. The story is just given to you and no matter how unbelievable an explanation is, you are to believe it because it is what you are told. Instead of this book being categorized as paranormal, it should be considered fantasy as well. Or maybe the author thought her readers were already aware of the "worlds" she created and brushed over everything?????? (She kept repeating that Lavastar was worse than hell, but why? What did they do there?) There are many "whys" I can ask. The story just dosn't add up.

It seemed as if the book had two plots competing with eachother: the demon slayer (Malik) trying to kill the main character's (Riley) ex-husband's evil spirit and Malik and Riley's sex life. Their sex life was more descriptive and believable than the other plot. Their sex life also gave more insight into their personalities than the other plot. I viewed Riley and Malik as sex addicts who were more concerned with sex than anything else. Also, Riley was rather vulgar at times (the sex scene in the car on their way to dinner). That is not how I would expect someone to behave whose whole world has been turned upside down/shattered. For having been a battered wife, she is rather assertive.

Since this story was more of a narrative, the characters weren't given any personality traits. They were just merely names in a story.

The beginning started strong, but as the story unraveled, it quickly turned unbelievable and went downhill from there. The ending, well, you just knew how it was gonna turn out. Nothing dramatic. Infact, too simple. Like the rest of the story.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Spiritual Seduction. The synopsis alone was an enticing look at the life of a woman battling her husband, Bradley, for her soul. After the loss of her husband, Riley finds her voice and true love.

This novel is jam packed with the most sultry seduction scenes I’ve ever read. They will rock you to your core. Day clearly seduces the reader, along with Riley and Malik. Labeling Spiritual Seduction a romance may have missed the mark in my opinion. It is purely erotic romance. This labeling could be misleading for readers looking for a typical romance. Personally, I feared it would be a typical romance—unrealistic—girl falls for guy and they live happily ever after. This is definitely not the case here.

I was, however, disappointed that Day did not elaborate more on the demonic world Lavastar, Exor the evil genius behind Bradley’s mayhem, or the demon slayer world. Main characters and the overall plot would have benefited greatly had we known a little more. The fantasy portions of the novel lacked fulfillment due to these omissions.

Overall, Spiritual Seduction was a fabulous read, providing something for everyone. This is my first taste of Day’s work and it definitely has sparked a flame to my dying interest in the romance genre. Even though the fantasy was lacking, it was an amazingly hot read with enough heat to get you through the coldest night.

More then I asked for, more then what I ever wanted in a great read. This book is the definition of taking me to that one place you dream about. IMAGINATION! Ms Day's Spiritual Seduction was exactly what it is called and in many ways I was seduce, pleased, and teased all the way through this book. The story is paranormal. Something I wouldnt normally pick up but I am so glad to see I was judging this genre all wrong. Talk about a book similar to New Moon or Vampire in Brooklyn but ten times better. The authors sense of style was original and the story line of a woman falling in love with a demon slayer was so authentic. This book reminded me of the movie Denzel was in where demons took over your body. It depicted that movie to the tee. This book has become one of Most favorable and memorable because it stands alone. nothing in literature that Ive read can compare. i would be lying if I said this was a good book because It was more then that. More then what I can say in this short statement. Great job to Desiree Day and I cant wait for part 2. This is a top shelf recommended read.

This book was so poorly written and the characters were shallow and unlikeable...the only reason I finished reading it at all was that it was sort of like a train wreck: I couldn't look away! I couldn't figure out what the hero saw in the whiny, b*tchy heroine...the only person I liked was her sister, who was a peripheral character. Here goes: battered wife's husband is murdered, but he comes back as a demon who is attempting to steal their young son. Heroine's co-worker is really a 100-year old demon hunter who is extremely wealthy and also an African prince. Sex and romance occur between the widow and the demon hunter. All sorts of random, ridiculous acts of "magic" happen, along with crazy "ointments that keep away demon DNA" and spirits that can be killed with "blue light"...yes, blue light. Don't waste your time unless you are looking for soft-core porn and insipid dialogue.

So many similes, practically one on every page...don't get me wrong, I like a good simile but so many popped me out of the story flow and made me say, "Huh?" See below:

For a second she wobbled, like a life-sized Bobble Head figurine, before she fell facedown in the sand.

And they put a dent bigger than the Grand Canyon in Malik’s platinum American Express card.

He and Harland had brought more excitement into their lives than a touring drag queen show.

She could tell as soon as the sugar hit him; he began bouncing around like a two-dollar rubber ball.

Her sister avoided commitment more than an arachnophobe dodged spiders.

“I’m fine,” Riley answered looking as confused as a country music fan watching Jessica Simpson sing country.

I have to give the author points for decent dialog though, nothing screams kiss of death for me like crummy diaglog.

Spiritual Seduction is a book about relationships and how to make them work. Riley started out in a very bad relationship with her husband but when he is murdered she has a second chance on life, or does she? Will her dead husband's spirit let her be free or will she have to battle with him for her happiness? Malik will do anything and everything to make sure that Riley is happy and safe, even if it means killing her husbands spirit.

A widow who mourns her husband’s death even though he was horrible to her. Once she begins to realize that he is gone, an amazing thing happens; he reappears as a ghost!! But she soon finds out many secrets. She finds out that the principal of her school is a demon slayer, her husband is a demon and that her husband wants to kill her and take their only son to a place worse than Hell so he can train him to rule his army.

I had a really hard time getting through this book. The characters are not consistent and the dialogue is very repetitive. Not one of the characters is likable, and this is especially true of the protagonist, Riley. The supernatural aspect of the book does very little to make the story more interesting. In fact, it makes the book even more frustrating to read.
