Okay, so… Marriage to Heir: Book 2 by Josey Mood. I have thoughts.
Let me start by saying: I do like this series. I like the premise, I like the slow-burn tension, and I really want to love these characters. But this second book? It felt like it was just the second half of Book 1 that got split off and published separately. There’s no real arc that stands on its own here—more like we’re just continuing the will-they-won’t-they back and forth from the first book, and dragging it out a lot.
Don’t get me wrong: I love a good angsty romance, but the amount of circling around the same conflict got a bit exhausting. The payoff (what little we get of it) is satisfying enough, but it took forever to get there, and I’m not sure the tension actually developed in a meaningful way between Point A and Point B.
Also… typos. So many typos. I’m usually pretty forgiving, but it was hard to ignore here. Missing words, wrong names, some formatting weirdness—it pulled me out of the story more than once, which is a shame because I wanted to be immersed.
All that said, I’m still invested in this world and these characters. If you read Book 1 and felt like the ending left you hanging, definitely read this—just go in knowing it’s not a whole new arc, but more of a continuation. I just wish it had all been one (better edited) book.
I only read this book because I already started it and I wanted to see how it ends or if it gets better it did not. I don’t know what this author going for. It was super boring from start to finish TikTok fooled me.
