Solid 3.5 stars. Being rather brief, this book does not have the depth of a reference book on the topic it covers (the history of medicine). However, as this book is meant to be a quick intro to this topic, I don't think this is a problem. And for a quick read, it certainly has a lot of breadth. The text is clearly intended for a lay (non-medical) audience and every chapter is full of snazzy graphics (illustration, photographs, etc). I personally find the history of medicine very interesting and plan on reading something more definitive about it in the future. But this is a good book for those who are not so sure of their interest in this topic or just don't have the time to read something more comprehensive.

It has definitely changed my perspective on how medicine evolved and given me a better background. I found it extremely fun and easy to read, for sure a page turner!
I'd recommend it to anyone who's involved with health related jobs and those who are just curious.
