Written in an authoritative and engaging style, updated to include criminals such as Josef Fritzl, 'The Encyclopedia of Crime' is a detailed and thorough reference book for any crime enthusiast
Pretty terrible: breathless writing, rampant and overwrought editorializing, dated opinions and terms. Not even useful as a basic reference, since there are no sources cited and in any case the author's credulous tone makes one suspicious of anything he says to begin with.
I'm odd and love this strange stuff. It's a big book, but the best part about that is that you can pick it up and put it down whenever you want, without losing a spot or forgetting any important details.
