CONGRATULATIONS, YOU'RE A ... FATHER?!

Tessa Lightfoot refused to share her long-awaited child with a total stranger, much less marry the man! True, Chase Madison had gotten her pregnant--courtesy of his unwitting sperm-bank deposit. And his tender touch did stir Tessa's blossoming body. But medical technology and a marriage license weren't enough to create a real family.

Nothing was going to come between Chase and fatherhood--not even stubborn Tessa! Tessa carried his baby irr her belly. And while he regretted that he hadn't put it there the old-fashioned way, he planned to change that the next time around!

Hi there. Thanks for stopping by!

I'll tell you right off that I don't like reading my own bios, let alone writing them. It's like tooting your own horn. But if you're here, then you want to know something about me. So how about I break some ‘writers have a glamorous life' myths first off.

Myth 1: Writers have always been writers.
Not me. I was a licensed cosmotologist for years, and didn't even put pen to paper until I was 30. (with an infant and 3 year old) It took me 3 years to write my first book, and while it taught me a lot, it was dreadful ! Got rejected 6 times flat out. I burned it in the back yard when I sold my 20 th book. I've kept the first pages to remind myself of how far I've come.

Myth 2: writers have a staff to take care of them and their homes while they write.
I wish! I don't have a maid, a cook, or anyone who works for me, except maybe Shelley, who maintains this site. Like most women out there, I do all the cooking, cleaning, bills, shopping, etc. Sometimes I can be seen driving the riding lawnmower over our 2 acres. That's not a complaint. I'm a Marine's wife, and my husband was gone a lot, so I had to do it. I'm the only female in a house of men, so I pretty much rule too. And as the daughter, wife, and now the mother of US Marines, believe me, I can give orders when need be.

Myth 3. Writers work when the muse hits them.
If I did, I'd never meet a deadline. Writing isn't about the muse coming to you; it's about unleashing bottled creativity and giving it freedom on paper. Every writer I know feels a deep internal need to tell their particular story and hope you're entertained. Writers HAVE to write. Yeah, sure, sometimes the creativity isn't moving like we want, but like everyone who faces some problem, I go to my friends and they come through in a punch. By the way, I work at my job from about 7 am till 4, sometimes later if it's going great and I don't want to stop. Weekends are for playing, projects or gardening. I actually love pulling weeds; it makes my mind drift to good places.

Myth 4: Writers get paid oodles of money.
Oodles?? If I did, I'd have a staff and a better-looking office. But I get to go to work in the worlds' sloppiest clothes.

Myth 5: Once a writer sells a book, they can sell anything else.
Want to see my rejection file? I could wallpaper a bathroom with it. To keep selling is the really hard part of this job. However, my idea of a great story isn't often blending with the editors. It's frustrating and often, it hurts, since the books writers create have, without a doubt, a piece of them inside. But then, if you can't take it, then this isn't the business for you.

My second book (#1 being the dreadful one I burned) My Timeswept Heart was a finalist in the Romance Writers of America, Golden Heart contest for unpublished works. I didn't win, but it got my work before my Kensington editor. It came out in '93 and I've sold over 30 since. With numerous rejections in between.

Right now, I'm writing books I've wanted to write for three years, Romantic Thrillers. Think Peacemaker or Chain Reaction with a little more romance in them. Lots of action and danger. After writing books in 5 sub genres of romance, (I get bored easily) this new one is the chance for me to use all this military knowledge I've stored up for years. I've fired weapons, rappelled, ridden in an Armored Personnel Carrier, and did some Scuba diving in the East China Sea. It hasn't been boring, and because I write, it never will be.

Now that my Sergeant Major husband is retired, and my sons are grown and towering over their mother, we get to stay in one place.

How average. I love it. When I feel the itch to move every 3 years, I just redecorate.

Well, its time for me to get back to work. Thanks for visiting. Take a look around the site, drop me a note, even read the first chapter of a new novel, if you like. It's out there for you, the reader. I wouldn't be loving my job if you weren't

(DNF at end of chapter 4) If Trump wrote a romance this would be it.

I renamed the characters Asshole and Doormat and I will refer to them as such. So Asshole keeps insisting that he has rights as a sperm donor. He insists so many times I actually spent time researching it. Sperm donors only had rights to their sperm-donated-children in 1998. This book takes place in 1997. He doesn't have any of the rights he keeps insisting he does.

Asshole assaults Doormat several times including sexually. "He caught her" ( she was walking away) page 23. "Without thought, he pulled her onto girls lap" page 23. "[Asshole] lifted her in his arms and carried her out of the dressing room area" page 27. " ...and let impulse take him. He wrapped his arm around her, pulling her flush against him. His child kicked, as if joining its mother's effort as she pushed at his chest." page 36. "He gazed down at her, then he bent and kissed her, quick and hard on the mouth" page 45. "He strode to her, catching her by the arms." page 47. "He grasped her arms... forcing her to look him in the eye." page 48. "He grinned, briefly kissing her forehead." page 49. "...he took her arm and escorted her..." page 52. "He pressed softly against her..." page 54. "...like a falcon to his prey, he swooped down and covered her mouth with his." page 54. It's worth noting that all he knows about her at this time is her firsts and last name, this is way before they get together and she's constantly trying to fight him off. This would be 100% fine if there was consent but she's actively fighting him and he refers to her as prey. Ew.

He's emotionally manipulative and surprise, surprise she's a doormat. He stomps on her rights and when she tells him no or to go away he gives her this big speech about how being a Dad is all he's ever wanted and is she really that much of an asshole that she'd deny him? This is an extremely common abuse tactic btw. She always responds by apologizing and gaslighting herself. This happens 4 or so times in the first 5 chapters. This dude is incredibly emotionally abusive.

Asshole believes his ex-wife is an asshole because she didn't want to lose her body for a baby she never wanted. Does Asshole know how hard pregnancy is? Does he understand that bodies don't just bounce back? He acts like it's nothing.

Asshole is an ex-marine who almost starts crying because he sees a female lawyer with a male secretary and it upsets him that the roles aren't reversed. This leads to multiple incredibly sexist paragraphs (page 12). According to Fetzer all women climbing the corporate ladder are emotionless and don't care about their families if they have one. Asshole thinks Doormat emotionless for not wanting a surprise partner. He's surprised when the sisters hug and it isn't an emotionless one. He thinks harshly of women who "strap themselves into suits and heels".

Here are some quotes/parts I actually liked, "Why didn't you just sleep with some poor schmuck and walk away?" "Ah, excuse me-" she poked the air with her chopsticks "-could you be tested for diseases so I can get pregnant? Hurry though, I'm ovulating." (page 22). "Marry me." "That never fixes anything, especially this." (page 23). Doormat refuses to allow someone to bully her employee on page 25. "[...] dismissing his compliments and focusing her attention on why he was here. To invade her privacy, her life. To take her baby." (page 41). "For a man who offered no more than a few ounces of fluid, you're asking a lot." (page 43).

Amy Fetzer knows so little about sperm donating that she think each donor is only used to make 1 successful baby. That's a frighteningly small amount of research done (page 15).

I flipped further through the book to see if there was an answer to the mystery of who put Asshole's sperm into rotation and he sexually assaults' her again and again AND it's heavily implied Doormat's sister made this happen intentionally. You know the lawyer? Her. That explains why she was intent on getting Doormat to "give him a try". Page 10 is 1 example but there's more.

I have alot more to say but it's getting late so I'll just add to this tomorrow.

Cute little Romance about a sperm donor who didn't want to be and a woman who is horrified to discover that the reluctant sperm donor thinks he has rights.

Good read but I couldn't help to be annoyed with both hero and heroine and their constant circling.

ALGO NUESTRO
