This novel was better than the first, IMO. What was so frustrating in the first novel was that Fujishima's motives for hiding Tohru's past were not revealed but you get a sense that something bad lurks behind Tohru's accident.

In this novel all is revealed-and it's not a pretty picture. In fact, I found it difficult to read through it b/c it's strong subject matter dealing with incest, physical, emotional, as well as what I deem sexual abuse involving Fujishima's mother. That is one SCARY woman-if I can call her that, and although Fujishima's actions might appear cowardly, I think he is a very strong individual b/c he didn't break and he never lost his kind and gentle nature. Now I'm looking forward to the next volume in this series.

This one was definitely different then the first one. This is the continuations of Cold Sleep. In this yaoi novel we find out how Fujishima knows Takahisa and the past. Also about the accident and their lives before the accident, and how is their relationship is now.

This is a warning even though I really liked this volume there could be things in it that make you squirm. It all involves Fujishima mother. Who seems to be unhinged if you ask me. The way Fujishima was raised, and the things she did still makes me shake my head.

Plus I feel so bad for Takahisa and how he was treated in the past. At one point I wanted to cry for the way he was treated.

I am so looking forward to the next volume in this series to see how and if these will continue with their relationship and if Takahisa will ever get his memory back.

Ooooh so that's how Tohru & Fujishima met one another....Okay that was a lot.... but after Tohru loses his memories he's 22 years old to Fujishima's 29. So the age difference is not that bad when they are older... man this reads like a soap opera! I mean so much ia going on, inheritance, lies, secrets, sex, abuse, pedophilia, incest....
This is my 8th or 9th Konohara Narise novel and while I don't love it like I love Hako No Naka or Mundane Hurt or Deep Breathing I do like it. The constant in Narise novels is can these two characters really love each other. I can see Tohru & Fujishima working out.
The cliffhanger! To just end right when it was getting to the good part! Ugh!
Tohru & Fujishima are both very complex and dark characters which is something I love.
I know I will be thinking about this book and mull it over in my mind for days to come....
Tohru being younger than Fujishima but being the aggressive one is chef's kiss
Also the pain Fujishima feels about what he did to Tohru, when Tohru was younger, and the abuse from his mom, which has caused him to have low-self esteem & a ton of self hate is so sad...

I feel like I'm reading the wrong book.
Everyone says this is Narise Konohara best series and in no way I find it true. It is not nearly as painful or interesting or well written as hako no naka, or even utsukushii... Maybe it has something to do with the translation? (Since I read hako no naka and utsukushii on nostalgia at 9th avenue and this is a totally different translator. )
Anyway, I feel robbed.
