Mick Dawson, the teenage boy from the first two books in this series, is now an adult and an undercover cop. Usually, he keeps himself pretty distant, but he has fallen head over heels in lust/love for a woman he’s never met, only seen. Del Piper jogs by the cafe in which he eats every day and he’s anxious to get her into bed. When he follows her into a jewelry store to finally meet her, he ends up shot in a robbery, trying to save her life. She of course falls head over heels for him in return, having been thus protected. But there’s a lot to learn about each other still, and a lot of obstacles to overcome - trust, accepting the personality quirks and professions of the other, stubbornness, etc. Mick sets out to find out who wants Del dead and tries as much as possible to get Del out of it, which Del doesn’t necessarily appreciate.
This was a pretty weird set up. I was a bit thrown by it...didn’t necessarily dislike it, but it felt strange. I mean, there’s definitely insta-lust...but at times I wonder if it isn’t insta-love. Mick vacillates between wanting to be with Del forever and just wanting her in bed until he gets her out of his system. Normally, I’d balk at a guy doing whatever he can just to get a woman into bed without stopping to learn anything about her (which he does), but Del was totally on board. These two don’t know one thing about one another and their ready to set up house together. She doesn’t know the first thing about him and she’s inviting him to live at her house while he recuperates - that’s strange behavior. And the fact that we don’t learn ANYTHING about Del for the first 30-40% of the book except that she jogs and she’s a writer, really bothered me because no way could this be love. But I will say, the confidence and gung-ho attitude both of them have towards the sex, made those scenes quite a bit hotter.
It isn’t until that angsty moment rears its head, where Mick throws Del to the wolves and believes a criminal over her, that things got really good. That was some serious angsty shit going on right there and I was over the moon about it. Finally, I could see where all this insta-love was leading to. They both finally realize that they don’t know each other and haven’t known each other long enough to trust and they both get quite a wake up call. Of course, neither of them really take that to heart and understand that the reason for this little issue was because they didn’t know each other. Del is justifiably hurt at Mick’s actions and figures her heart is broken and she’ll never be able to forgive him. I was on board with that. But all of Mick’s friends throw in their weight towards getting her to forgive him and he’s pretty contrite for a few hours and explains why it’s so hard for him to trust, and then he reveals that he’s been lying to her about his job and she completely forgives him and has sex with him. Which was a major let down because I wanted some grovel, thank you very much. I wanted to see him suffer for a little bit. Just a little. His actions were pretty shitty. He didn’t even have to work for any forgiveness. So this was probably the best part of the story, but a bit of a let down in the end. Still good reading though.
And on a side note, this story (and many of this author’s stories) have what is fast becoming one of my major pet peeves in romance. Time after time, Mick calls the heroine “Delilah,” her full name. Time after time, she tells him to call her “Del.” She is perfectly clear that “Del” is the name she would prefer and she isn’t the least bit wishy-washy about it, nor does she secretly show a preference for the hero’s special name for her. But he doesn’t care because that’s the name he wants to call her. For me this shows a complete lack of respect for the heroine and a REALLY selfish attitude. A person’s identity is wrapped up in their name and the name a person calls you is really meaningful. Del actually says she only went by Delilah as her formal name on the books she publishes and when her Dad was angry with her - and that’s the name that Mick chooses to use with her? What’s the meaning in that? It’s not special or sweet to call someone a different name because YOU want to - it’s rude. If she’d called him “Mickey” or “Stud-Muffin” in front of his friends just because SHE wanted to, you can bet he’d be stopping that nonsense real quick. She should have done the same.

After a somewhat disappointing book with Alec and Celia's story, Lori Foster redeemed herself with this one. I loved him in Beguiled as a teen, and I love the grown-up Mick! Del, the women he rescues, is every bit as confident and strong as he is, and they were terrific together. Not even being shot, having surgery and still in a hospital bed was going to stop them, but you gotta do what you gotta do right? Ok, that part was a little strange for me, but after that it was very good. I really liked re-visiting with his "family" ,Dane, Angel, Alec and Celia...call me sentimental, but it was good to know they were all doing so well. I can't help it...sometimes I just get attached to people. Zach and Josh added some comic relief and I look forward to reading about them too, especially Josh. All in all a hot, enjoyable read.

THis was a light quick listen. The hero was all alpha dreamy, the heroine was smart but dense. The side characters were funny and interesting. I think this is like the 3rd book in the series so I'll have to double back and catch up. The only negative thing have to say is the instalove was OFF THE CHARTS.

This was a fun mystery and I really enjoyed the characters & the story. Just a warning though for some of my friends - it's a bit heavy on the sexual side in some parts.

This book was just ok for me. I didn't get into the characters and the plot wasn't real interesting to me.

Mick!!! He was one of my favorite characters in the first two books of this series so I was so happy to see his story and how he grew up. Del and Mick are so fun together. I love how his perfect love is someone so honest and straight-forward. Del is great. I love how oblivious but smart she is. The claim to fame she has with her writing is entertaining as can be and oh so interesting!
Of course another part that was built in perfectly was catching up with Dane, Angel, Alec and Cecilia. It was so fun to see their personalities and learn how their families grew. Dane’s conversation with Del was so sweet and helpful. Then we have Mick’s friends Zack and Josh..I am intrigued to learn more about them and see how this all works out!

Loved it! Lori Foster does it once again with her amazing characters and action packed plot. The story is quick paced and enjoyable. Lots of loving, a quick romance, and happily ever after. Foster doesn't make her heroines annoying or easy to hate. Del is loveable and relatable, strong, confident, and a kick ass leading lady. Also, who wouldn't want to fall in love with a sexy and rugged alpha male willing to take a bullet for you?

Great read
Great addition to the series. Mick was a character I loved from Fallen Angels and it is awesome for him to get his own story and what a great heroine Delilah is for him. The suspense and danger really added to the enjoyment of reading this book. I would recommend this book to any adult reader that enjoys sexy heroes and heroines.

Excellent plot
From the beginning kept you interested in what would develop going on. It had romance intrigue and mystery about it. I always enjoyment books and I am never disappointed

The characters in this story are awesome, funny and makes me wish I was in their circle of friends. The protectiveness of each other just amazes me. This story just made me envy her. I can’t wait to read the others in this series!

Mick’s been watching Del for a couple of weeks. He first spotted her in his old neighborhood and immediately developed a small obsession for the dreamy mystery writer. The day Mick decides to make his move, Del’s in the wrong place at the wrong time. During an attempted robbery, Mick gets shot saving Del’s life. As drawn to him as he is to her, Del offers to take Mick in while he recovers. However, things about the robbery don’t quite add up and Mick isn’t sure if he can trust Del so he keeps her close while trying to unravel the mystery.
Caught In The Act is a light, fun romance with a little bit of mystery thrown in. Foster can be a bit hit and miss for me. I like some of her books a lot and other are just OK. I didn’t like this one as much of some of her other book. It was somewhat predictable but I still enjoyed it - good for a quick read. Caught In The Act is actually a part of a series, which I didn’t realize when I picked it up. I don't think you need to read the series in order though, as I was able to follow along perfectly fine.
This is definitely a case of love at first sight romance. Mick’s absolutely enthralled by Del and she seem to share the same attraction. Usually in romances (especially novella length ones), the falling in love is fast and hard. And normally I can suspend disbelief and go with story. However, in this case, the fast fall was a little too fast for me. Mick and Del barely know each other and he’s already moving in. Maybe it’s a bit of gratitude on her part and obsession on his but I wish they would have developed the relationship a little more.
Mick’s your typical romance lead - big, handsome and aggressive. He makes no qualms about telling Del exactly how he feels about her and is sweet and protective. His cop instincts get the better of him though and he makes a big blunder with Del. Even though I could see it coming, I wanted to smack him upside the head when it happens. Though I didn’t love Del, I did like her and find her to be a unique character. She’s a bit of an odd bird - a mystery writer with her head in the clouds and, while I couldn’t relate to her, I liked that she wasn’t your stereotypical romance heroine.
Mick’s two friends, Zack and Josh, provided some comic relief. Their scenes with Mick had a real feeling of camaraderie and their conversations were pretty funny. I would love to read more about both of them. Good thing they each have a book of their own.
This book wasn’t anything new or groundbreaking but it’s a quick and entertaining read with some good moments. I am picking up Josh’s book after this. :)

I read this in an anthology, and I quickly realized it was some part of a series but I had enough information to go on that I wasn't so lost that I didn't know what was going on. This was a nice story that left me wanting to read the rest of the series.
Mick is an undercover cop with a slight obsession with a woman from his neighborhood. He's out to lunch with his friends when he sees her on the street and decides it's time to introduce himself. He goes to find her only to walk straight into a robbery attempt. Del is a writer and is unbelievably surprised when she ends up in the middle of a robbery and a big man is trying to protect her. He also takes a bullet for her. While she's trying to learn Mick's name, Mick is trying to get her to safety. Mick knows that there is too much of a coincidence that the thieves aimed their gun at Del and he knows he needs to protect her and find out why she was targeted. Del agrees to take him home with her since she has guilty feelings about how he got shot because he was saving her life. They also both can't deny the feelings of lust and attraction they have for each other and are more than ready to explore that side of their relationship.
So at the beginning of this book I really liked the hero Mick. He was sweet, sexy and he treated Del really nice. I also loved the sexual chemistry between them, and found it amusing how Del kept getting the sexual upperhand while he was injured. And then, a significant event happened later in the book and he completely lost all his appeal in my eyes. He didn't trust his own feelings and turned on Del at the first opportunity. I couldn't see past that, and despite his explanation and his sad sob story.. I just found I didn't care. After that point, he was just another character. I almost wished that Del ended up with Mick's friend Josh instead. Oh well, despite that I still enjoyed the plot and it made me curious to read the other books in the series. Hopefully I can find them.
Mick is an undercover cop with a slight obsession with a woman from his neighborhood. He's out to lunch with his friends when he sees her on the street and decides it's time to introduce himself. He goes to find her only to walk straight into a robbery attempt. Del is a writer and is unbelievably surprised when she ends up in the middle of a robbery and a big man is trying to protect her. He also takes a bullet for her. While she's trying to learn Mick's name, Mick is trying to get her to safety. Mick knows that there is too much of a coincidence that the thieves aimed their gun at Del and he knows he needs to protect her and find out why she was targeted. Del agrees to take him home with her since she has guilty feelings about how he got shot because he was saving her life. They also both can't deny the feelings of lust and attraction they have for each other and are more than ready to explore that side of their relationship.
So at the beginning of this book I really liked the hero Mick. He was sweet, sexy and he treated Del really nice. I also loved the sexual chemistry between them, and found it amusing how Del kept getting the sexual upperhand while he was injured. And then, a significant event happened later in the book and he completely lost all his appeal in my eyes. He didn't trust his own feelings and turned on Del at the first opportunity. I couldn't see past that, and despite his explanation and his sad sob story.. I just found I didn't care. After that point, he was just another character. I almost wished that Del ended up with Mick's friend Josh instead. Oh well, despite that I still enjoyed the plot and it made me curious to read the other books in the series. Hopefully I can find them.

Caught In The Act was a great example of an undercover/bodyguard love story and a delightful one. I had fun reading this. It got me hooked from the start, and I just couldn't put it down, darn it!
Mick Dawson, I knew him from the book Treat Her Right as one of Zack's best friends (I read Zack's first), and since then, I cannot wait to read his own story. Mick is working as an undercover cop, gorgeous, hot, alpha-male, and somewhat obsessed with the woman from his neighborhood. And when he finally decided to introduce himself, something happened.
Del Piper is a mystery writer, and she was surprised when she walked in the middle of a robbery and shocked when a man risked his life to protect her. Feeling grateful and guilty at the same time, she offered to take care of him.
Being close to each other night and day, they eventually ended up in bed. Darn, the chemistry between them was explosive that made the sex hot and fun, and intense and hotter... and yeah.
When Mick realized that someone was out to kill his lady love, he vowed to protect her. And as they tried to find out the reason why someone wanted her dead - doubts, insecurities resurfaced, threatening to break their fragile relationship. I loved Mick Dawson. He's ultra possessive and protective in a sweet way that will definitely have you swooning. And his painful past saddened me. I was so glad that finally, he had someone like Del - a strong, smart, compassionate woman who stood up for herself. They were absolutely perfect together!
I highly recommend this book. It was such a wonderful story about two imperfect people finding perfect love with each other. Plus plenty of fun secondary characters, witty banter, fast-action/mystery/suspense, and intense romance -You're in for a real treat. So don't miss it!

Purtroppo, questo romanzo è stato una delusione. La storia poteva essere davvero particolare e originale, ma non è riuscita a ingranare al meglio. Fin da subito di può capire che Mick ha qualche problema. è un poliziotto, ma io lo riassumerei come uno stalker. S'invaghisce di una donna a lui sconosciuta e per due settimane non fa altro che osservarla mentre fa jogging. Quando decide di conoscerla, si ritroverà in mezzo a una rapina e facendo l'eroe si ritroverà con una bella pallottola in corpo. La cara ragazza, ovviamente, si sentirà in colpa. Andrà a trovarlo in ospedale, dove si assicurerà che i suoi condotti respiratori siano liberi con la lingua e lo porterà a vivere con lei per prendersene cura. Due sconosciuti che in meno di un giorno diventano marito e moglie. Wow, davvero realistico. Ma c'è di peggio. Lei è una sociopatica psicotica con molti disturbi della personalità. No, è una scrittrice di gialli molto famosa per come svolge le sue ricerche, ma è proprio per questo che il suo personaggio da una parte poteva essere geniale. In realtà si è rivelata solo una pazza furiosa. Mick deve aver subito anche un vasto trauma alla testa, perchè è completamente perso per lei. Anche se alla fine è colpa sua se è quasi morto.

It was alright, a typical romance coming from Foster. Mick Dawson was a nice enough character, but I was actually, while reading was more interested in Josh and Zack. Honestly I’m tired of reading about characters that instantly fall in love with each other at first sight, don’t get me wrong, Foster’s an amazing writer, but it just seems now that every book I pick up now—not just talking about Foster, that characters just instantly fall in love. I think that’s one reason to why I loved reading That Perfect Someone so much.
Anyway, to me, the story was kind of boring, perhaps a little predictable b/c no way would Foster would make Mick fall in love for a criminal, there’s no doubt there won’t be a happy ending--a good balanced romance.

Adorei o livro os personagens são maravilhosos e foi ótimo rever velhos conhecidos e dar boas vidas aos novos. Amei o fato da mocinha ser escritora e ainda se chamar Dalila e o Mick um fofo, mega apaixonado platonicamente.
E quando eles realmente se conhecem fiquei surpresa com todas as reações da Dalila, apesar de ser a típica escritora que quando tá inspirada só pensa no que tá escrevendo. Ela é uma pessoa que não tem medo de nada se joga sem paraquedas, não tem medo de ter uma experiência ruim ou de se magoar, amei a Dalila.
Só faço uma ressalva acho que ela deveria ter sido mais dura com Mick ou demorar mais tempo para perdoá-lo, fazê-lo sofrer um pouco mais. Apesar de entender toda a situação e os dois lados ainda sim, acho que ela poderia ser mais dura com ele.

I fell for Mick immediately in Beguiled and was happy to get to his story. Definitely worth 3 stars but I added one because of the lack of games that the main characters play with each other. I really appreciate how honest they were about their attraction; both physical and sexual. (I do wish they'd added one more sex scene with an uninjured Mick though!)
I was kind of surprised at how often I chuckled or laughed out loud. I get that there is always some measure of humor in Foster's stories, but book had me smiling from beginning to end.
I've really enjoyed the PI & Men To The Rescue series but even before starting this one, I wasn't sure where the series would go after Mick. With the introduction of Josh and Zack, my interest has more than be peeked.

Good story and good romance...typical of Foster's books. FYI: the characters in this book, Foster's Heartbreakers and Fallen Angels have characters that appear in all stories. I didn't know that and it took me 3-4 stories to catch on. I'm a little slow. But they aren't really a series, so they aren't presented in that way. But it's fun to see the different characters. I did read them out of order because I had no idea, but it's still fun!

Another fun romance by Lori Foster. Piper is no shrinking wall-flower and is well able to think for herself. Some nice twists and turns and interesting characters. Lots of characters that I would guess show up in other books by Foster. I'll definitely be on the lookout for those.

Although this story was a bit formulaic, it used a formula I normally enjoy. True, there was a "big secret" but it wasn't big enough to completely overwhelm the plot. Foster is good at making the steamy chemistry between her couples almost palpable and this was no exception, though in this book, the heroine was as aggressive as the hero. It was a nice twist to read of a woman with no traumatic past who was comfortable in her own skin and made advances as often as her male counterpart.

3.5 stars. This was a good contemporary romance. I liked Del and especially Mick, but these characters didn't seem to have the depth or complexity as the characters in her Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series.
While I enjoyed that the characters were very upfront about their emotions, it would have been nice to have more suspense, a few more bumps in the road to their romance. Except for the one major hitch, things were too neat and tidy for me.
Overall, I really enjoy Lori's romances.

Una historia entretenida que compré en un kindle flash y es el tercero de una serie. Al no haber leído los anteriores me he perdido un poco con algunos secundarios pero nada importante para la historia que como suele ser habitual en esta autora está bien hilada.
Lo mismo me animo leer el resto en inglés ya que la editorial española solo ha publicado este (lo que me parece fatal)
