Capturing the humor of living with ulcerative colitis through art and writing has helped me in ways that I never expected. Dreaming of “fantasy treatments” like fairy sparkles, writing funny poems about running to the bathroom (and not making it there in time), and drawing my colon in a casket have kept me laughing throughout this process.
I know that living with inflammatory bowel disease is terrible. You never quite know what each day will be like.
I am sharing my story because I think it may help you. I have been where you are and while it's not a fun experience, capturing the funny moments in everyday situations can help you get through each day, one day at a time.

Susan has always been drawn to creativity and the arts, but her publishing journey began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when learning to play the ukulele unexpectedly opened the door to writing and illustrating children's books.
Living with chronic pain, Susan strives to show others that nothing is impossible. She graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education.
Through her storytelling, she hopes to spark imagination and joy in readers of all ages. Susan lives in Bowling Green, Ohio, with her tuxedo cat, Tracey.
