Garden Wisdom & Know-How is a large-scale practical guide to planting and maintaining a garden, indoors or out. The chapters are organized by topic-garden techniques and tricks, the flower garden, the edible garden, container gardening, garden design and landscaping, attracting wildlife, and so on-and packed with information. Readers will discover tips and techniques for maintaining a garden year-round; harvesting herbs; designing by bloom season; turning garden refuse into garden rewards; building teepees, trellises, and other plant supports; and much more.
This has basically everything you need to know about gardening and how to design and plan your garden. This is the perfect book for when you have a yard & you go "what do I do with it?"
The wisdom is sometimes presented in a bit of a hodgepodge fashion - like when they describe drip irrigation at least three full times - but overall this book has been a thought-provoking gardening resource during the planning phase of converting a chaotic weed-infested hole into a vegetable garden.
After just putting three 2" high raised beds on our front sidewalk planting strip. This book made it easy for me to determine what I wanted to grow there.
Similar to the Country Wisdom book, and filled with even more information, set up in easy to get to chapters, and lots of information. Combines some of the best books I've read, and throws in a lot of interesting information and how-to's.
A very exhaustive resource yet direct, to-the-point, instructions. My only heartburn is the enormous size of this book with its small type makes it really hard to handle and read. Wish it was a regular sized book split across a couple volumes instead.
