DeadStar, Nick's first book in ten years, launches 25 January 2022. It concerns the fate of punk/New Wave musician, Garth Tyson, who fled the stage at Glastonbury 1985, having been pelted with mud, and was never seen again.
Nick's also the author of Doctor Who-based memoir, Dalek I Loved You, and the locations-based travel book, Who Goes There. He's written two editions of the comic-travelogue Dextrose Trilogy: In the Footsteps of Harrison Dextrose and Looking for Mrs Dextrose. And three Dangerous Books: For Cats, For Dogs and For Anglers.
I have no idea how long this book has been sitting on my book shelf but a lazy sunny Saturday morning is perfect for a little exploration. This book is in the vein of many other "written by your pet" series where the real personality shines through rather than the happy go lucky fur ball we all think we know.
So yes there are some very clever and ingenious parts to this book (I am a sucker for lists after all) however they do get rather repetitive after a while and I think I am feel a little fatigue from them all " my cat is trying to kill me" style.
So all in all it succeeded in what it set out to do - a humours distraction for a couple of hours.
More nonsense from Nick Griffiths. Cats think they are smarter than dogs. Cats are sarcastic animals who are smarter than their humans. Cats do things that humans think they aren't capable of doing. Most strange things that happen to cat owners were caused by their cats. Right! Lots of irreverent beliefs that cats have about the world around them. Cats: you are not half as smart as you think! a message from a dog lover!
Very funny! I could picture our cat Merlin saying some of this stuff. It's a cute light read that works well for when you need something you can read a little bit of and then come back to it much later (I kept it in the bathroom).
