ORACLE 11 SQL is not simply a study guide; it is written for individuals who have just a basic knowledge of databases and can be utilized in a course on this latest implementation of SQL from Oracle.
This was the required text for my Oracle 11g SQL college class. I was disappointed in the quality of the text - there were a number of syntax errors in the statements and instructions, and the end of chapter questions were not worded well.
What I did like about the text was the structure - each chapter walked through a case study, presented in a story-format, and explained how to analyze a case and translate that into a technical solution. Note boxes throughout the text provided helpful hints and insights. Each chapter had a comprehensive summary at the end, tables with all the statements learned and how they would be applied with examples, and review questions. With a little more attention to detail, this would be a great text for class and for self-study.
I find this book to be very frustrating at times. It is better if you have previous knowledge of SQL to understand better the exercises from this book.
