Nicely done book; now that I've run across recipe books that give you full recipes that you make and then dehydrate, I would probably recommend them over this one - but it still has some fun ideas and good recipes in it. It looks like the associated web site freezerbagcooking.com has fewer recipes than it used to carry, so it may be useful to get the book just for the greater variety of ideas. For my most recent trip I was looking for more healthy recipes (whole grains and so on) and there wasn't a lot there, so I ended up modifying recipes a tad - which is a little scary given the amount of prep for this kind of cooking!

A bit of a of a waste of money, thought this was going to be helpful for my older scout. Most of this info can be found on the internet. Kind of nice to have it all in one place but not worth what I paid for it. There are not that many different recipes. Just replace XYZ with ABC and it is a new recipe.

I am perusing this one as Amy and I plan our summer venture of the John Muir Trail in its entirety. You can make bean and cheese burritos in a plastic bag, with yummy grasshoppers for dessert.

hoarding packets of condiments sounds like it generates a lot of trash - I'm not so sure about all the disposable freezer bag usage either...

One of the most useful books on outdoor skills that I have ever read! I found myself wanting to go to the grocery store to get the needed supplies to cook some of these recipes today.
