Wow, is it just me? This book received a lot of high ratings and I'm not sure why. The supposedly well-educated lead characters, Sarah and Adam, cussed more and more as the writing became worse and worse. Coincidence? I think not.
The lack of character development was astounding; you could exchange Sarah and Adam's demeanors interchangeably.
As I got deeper and deeper into the book, the only thing that truly excited me was knowing my next audiobook was ready…

A page turner that I suspected had a twist- but I didn’t get the twist right. Sarah and Adam Morgan are married. She is a successful attorney and he is a writer. We find out their marriage is bad and that Adam is cheating with Kelly at their lake house. Kelly is killed the night after Adam leaves her sleeping there. We suspect her cop husband, we learn she has a covered up past, we wonder about the random dude who stalked her but in the end, it was Sarah. She worked with Bob at the firm to kill her. (Bob was her ex husbands brother who she had killed.) the crazy part is that Sarah played the dutiful wife and was Adam’s attorney. In the end, he got the death penalty and she goes on to marry Bob. Crazy twist.

I started with 3 stars because the genre formula is all there — you can see some of the twists lining up from a mile away. But I’m adding a bonus star because some of this shit was CRAY.

The decisions? Unhinged.
The characters? Hot mess express
The ending? I had expected something similar.... but it went deeper into disturbia. To think you know a person.

I listened to the audiobook, and it was perfect for an intercity drive. The pacing and the drama hit just right when you’re cruising down the highway with nothing but road in front of you (and yes, i listened to it at 1.75x to line it up with the drive).

A solid pick if you're into domestic thrillers, and have a couple spare hours where you need some audio to fill the space.

This book was super interesting. It definitely kept me wanting to read more. I had a harder time figuring out the ending, which I liked... more of a fun twist than just a predictable ending. I enjoyed finding out the last chapter and everything it entailed.
