It’s bad enough that as the elder bear shifter in my clan, I’ve got to guide two adult cubs through their changes and help them acclimate to their newfound abilities, but the biologist who recently transferred to my office is the icing on my stress cake. She’s not only a beautiful distraction, she’s also smart, funny, and her research project has the potential to reveal the existence of shape shifters to the world—especially when there are two bears running around who aren’t quite acting as bear-like as they should.
Gwendolyn Locke
I moved to Parrish Falls—a.k.a. The Middle of Nowhere—Michigan to study black bears. But in the three months that I’ve been working as a biologist at the local branch of the DNR, I haven’t seen a single one. Because my boss has been actively cockbear-blocking me every chance he gets. I don’t know what his problem is, but I’m about to find out. Just as soon as I can look at his gorgeous, grumpy face and not mentally relive every filthy sex dream I’ve had about him.
Confronting Noah doesn’t go as planned, and I discover that shape shifters exist and fairy tales aren’t just stories. Somehow, I’ve found myself snowbound and playing Goldilocks to three stupidly-hot bear shifters. As it turns out, “just right” is so much more than a figure of speech.
This book has been previously published but has undergone significant edits and revisions prior to re-release.
Bronwyn Green is an award-winning author, blogger, and compulsive crafter. She lives in Michigan with her husband, two children and three somewhat psychotic cats. When not frantically writing, she can be found binge-watching Netflix while working on her latest craft project.
You’re damn right being snowbound has never been so hot! Phew, and then another phew on top. Oh, and add another phew there while you’re at it.
I thought I’d feel icky reading a ménage involving family members, but surprisingly I didn’t. While reading, I forgot they were twins and their cousin and concentrated only on the fact they were men. I will confess to feeling a little “Oh no!” that Gwen had sex with all three males, because it was clear from the start she was attracted to Noah the most, but that’s just me.
Gwen worked with Noah and had steadily fallen in love with him. He seemed gruff, to not care for her presence, and she felt he wasn’t prepared to teach her what she needed to know with regards to bears. Frustrated, she stormed out of the office, hoping to make it home before the bad weather cut her off. Unfortunately, she hit a bear on her travels and got out with intent to kill if the bear’s injuries were too many to be fixed.
She trailed the bear and watched in amazement as it changed into a human. A human man who bore a striking resemblance to Noah. But then another bear came at her, and she was forced to defend herself. Imagine her disorientation when that bear also shifted. She’d hit her head when she’d crashed and thought she’d imagined the strange scene before her. She hadn’t. Oh no. These men were bears all right, and the second one was Noah. Squee-and-ooh-and-I-loved-that-bit!
Well, that’s quite a sight to take in and believe, isn’t it? I should say so. But the proof was right there before her. No denying the fact that those hairy beasts had shifted into yummy Native Americans.
Gwen helped Noah take his cousin back home, and due to the weather getting worse, she had to stay at their place. Noah finally showed a different side of himself, and Gwen realized he might just like her after all.
Ms. Green has penned yet another enjoyable ménage tale with believable characters and a realness to them that makes you forget that bear shifters don’t really exist. For the time it takes to read Just Right, they do, and it is written in such a way that those bears and their ways are as natural as breathing.
BEST BITS: 1. LOL moment: She was going to punch him. Right in his ridiculously gorgeous face.
2. And another LOL right after: ...wearing a necklace made of bacon. (You’d have to read it to find out why that’s so funny.)
VERDICT: Hot-hot-hot sex with barely time to catch your breath. There’s lots of sexual action, and at no time did I get confused as to who was doing what—a hard feat to accomplish, I imagine, when writing more than three people having sex at once. If you don’t mind the males being related, and you enjoy a book with more than two sexual players in one location, with the added bonus of the unusual bear shifter aspect, then click that Get Your Copy button below and settle down for one of the hottest reads of your ever-lovin’ life! Now, I need a cold shower. Or something like that...
I believe it was too short, i would love to see how Noah & Gwen's relationship unfolded after all that smoking hot & down right dirty sex they had. Plus, who wouldn't love the twin they were amazing, funny and boy that foursome was WOWWWWW!!!!!!
Just Right is a retelling of the fairytale Goldilocks. Gwendolyn Locke is our Goldilocks and she has recently moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and is working specifically at the Parrish Falls Department of Natural Resources to study black bears. There is an obstacle in one Noah Makwa, Gwendolyn’s boss, even though Gwendolyn is attracted to Noah to the point of have $€x dreams about him, they don’t get along. Every time Gwendolyn tries to conduct research Noah obstructs her. Noah finally relents and takes Gwendolyn with him! The attraction turns out to be mutual, but Noah controls himself. On Gwen’s drive home from work that night there is a terrible winter storm and Gwen wrecks her car avoiding an animal. Gwen’s is injured in the accident, but pulls herself up by her bootstraps and attempts to put the bear she hit out of it’s mystery, but weird things happen. We meet Lucas and Quinn who are staying with Noah. Noah has no choice but to show his cards and get everyone back to his home because of the storm. The whole story is great and I enjoyed my day spent reading it. I’m looking forward to Lucas and Quinn’s story!
This was my first shifter book and now I am hooked. Gwendolyn Locke is in Northern Michigan to study black bears. Noah is a bear shifter and Gwendolyn's boss. He is trying to keep her from finding out that shifters exist. A freak accident with a bear from Noah's clan throws Gwendolyn and Noah together. That is when the heat between them explodes. Bronwyn is an amazing author and I look forward to reading more of her books.
Just Right is a short story. It has some paranormal aspects to it, but it's not your typical paranormal. Gwen moves to Michigan to study the habits of bears, however Noah blocks her attempts for fear that his clan, himself and his cousins will be exploited. A freak storm, a bear in the middle of the road and being trapped in a cabin with three hot bear shifters!
This is a very sexy, very hot version of Goldilocks and I can't recommend Ms. Green enough!
My first shifter romance and I LOVED it. Gwen and Noah's chemistry jumps off the page even at the beginning when they were enemies. Lucas and Quinn stole the show many times and I hope for more of them in the future. Also, this story has the hottest menage scene I've ever read that somehow came across as intimate and sweet at the same time. Bronwyn Green is a true talent and this novella is meant to be devoured! 5 Goldilocks stars!
Fairly straightforward short fantasy of a woman that gets to bang three guys (all cousins it would seem) who happen to be were-bears. It hints at being an erotic version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, although she does get to have the bears in human form, thankfully. There’s not much to the story other than the sex, and no particular exploration of the shape-shifting aspect, which appears slightly irrelevant to the girl-trapped-in-cabin-with-three-horny-guys plot. The protagonist seemed very accepting and tolerant of her discovery of the existence of shape-shifting, but I guess she was distracted. But, the sex is sizzling.
For what it was - hot smut with a thinly veiled "plot" - it still fell flat. It really just wasn't hot enough! And the "plot" is what killed it in the end, by being just slightly too complex to ignore, which took even more away from the lacklustre sex.
But I must admit, the scene with the piercings............... that was pretty hot. Now I want to know what that feels like.... :3
I love reading short stories, especially when I'm in between finding a new series to read, and this author is one of my favorites to pickup a well written short story from! This one is a paranormal version of Goldilocks and the three bears, there's a little bit of drama, a little bit of angst and a whole lot of sexy cuddling ;)
This is one of the hottest takes on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Bear shifters are my favorite of all shifters and these guys definitely reminded me why. It’s a fast paced, amazingly well written novella that sucks you in from the first page. I’m feeling the need for a walk in the woods.
Gwendolyn Locke has a big problem. She’s had enough of working with her grumpy, stupidly hot boss. The guy interferes with her research at every turn and refuses to acknowledge her as an equal. It's almost like he doesn't want her there - even though he's the one who approved her assignment! She’s just fed up enough to request a transfer.. and hope that she can finally STOP having hot dreams about Mr. Unavailable Jerk.
Noah Matwa is in quite the predicament himself. He didn't expect to be teaching "How to Bear 101" to two shifters just coming in to their abilities. Especially since he just approved the transfer of a colleague to his station - a smart, beautiful biologist who is there to study the local bear population. As the eldest bear shifter in the area, it's his responsibility to teach Lucas and Quinn AND keep their existence under wraps. Unfortunately, that's hard to do with Gwen chafing at the restrictions that both keep her from doing her job properly as well as keep the secret. And with his crazy attraction to her, it's even harder to keep his distance.
When Gwen accidentally hits a fully shifted Quinn with her car during an ice storm, Noah no longer has a choice about keeping secrets. Taking an injured Gwen and Quinn back to the cabin where he lives, he reveals everything to her and officially introduces her to Quinn and his lover Lucas. Because of the storm, all four of them are snowed in. Things really heat up from there!
The first thing: This is an expansion and rewrite of a previous story. I didn't get to read that one, but I think this is a fun little take on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It's obviously just meant to be a short, erotic read - which it fulfills in spades.
The second thing: If you're not already aware, this is a MMFM menage story. What is lovely about it to me is the way all the characters are respectful of each other, and despite the fantasy elements, the actual reactions feel true to life. Yeah, they're all open to experimenting, and the scenes are hot hot hot.. but I loved that Noah did have a bit of jealousy. He managed it, of course, but the fact that it was THERE made it more real.
If you're looking for a quick, hot read, I can't say enough good about this. And as a side note, as with all Bronwyn Green books, the writing is crisp and draws you in quickly.
In a word – HOT! That’s what Green’s latest, Just Right, got me. So hot I had to turn on a fan. Not one fan, but two. This new release, which may be a re-release (revised and edited) caught me by surprise for a multitude of reasons that I would love to discuss. Reason one, it plays with the fated mate’s trope and the tale of Goldilocks and The Three Bears in an interesting way, without anyone actually saying the two main characters were fated to be together. This may not be Green’s intention, but I read it that way and loved it. Reason two, there is so much story condensed into such a short page count and Green knows how to make every. Single. Word. Count. She doesn’t waste space or time and still provides excellent layering of background and world building. In fact, I’m eager to pepper this author with questions about what comes next. Will there be more books set in the small town of Parrish Falls? Will we get more of Lucas and Quinn, the other two bears? Reason three, this is the biggie, Green writes some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve read in a while and this book offers them up in spades. When Goldilocks is snowed in with the three bears (shifters) then of course wild shenanigans are a must. Creative, incredibly sexy, and with witty dialogue like these gems: “Careful, little girl… I bite back.” And, “Apparently, Goldilocks is what’s for breakfast.” All of these elements made it very easy for me to read this book just a couple hours. Goldilocks, Gwen, is completely believable as a researcher for black bears and I love her acceptance of Noah and the bear shifter community. Read into that however you wish. Playing with popular tropes like fated mates (because they are), enemies to lovers, and of course a fairy-tale twist is more than just right. It’s perfect. You can’t go wrong with this quick read. I highly recommend it.
When I get off work every night I have a limited amount of time to read before bed and, since it's near impossible for me to put down a book I haven't finished, my best bet is usually a novella. And there's no better novella in my mind than one involving shapeshifters.
And then I heard it was MMMF and I was like, "Okay. This is as good as it gets."
Enemies to lovers is my jam and there's never been more angry sexual tension directed at someone like Gwen's directing at Noah. Until it's not so angry anymore and things get delicious (and this happens FAST, so don't worry about having to suffer through all the build up when all you want is some hot sex and amazing banter... without waiting patiently for it).
Now, don't go thinking that there's three heroes and one heroine all the way through like I thought there might be when I started reading. This is primarily a romance between two individuals, Gwendolyn and Noah, who don't mind inviting other parties into their budding relationship. The presence of Quinn and Lucas were just a sexy bonus to an already sexy story.
Because this is a novella you're not going to get a drawn out, intricately detailed plot, but Just Right managed to have enough background information, drama, and personal development to keep me intrigued all the way through without relying entirely on sex to carry the story. The fairy tale undercurrents were delightful (who doesn't love a fairy tale turned on its end?) and the little references here and there kept me laughing between the panting.
Just Right is the first book I've read by Bronwyn Green, and it is fascinating!!
Gwen is working in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan tracking and studying Black Bears, or she would be if her boss, Noah Makwe, would let her do her job.
Just when she thinks Noah is going to let her out in the field to study the bears, he pushes her away again. Doing the only thing she knows to do, Gwen requests a transfer and heads out on her own. Unfortunately Gwen ends up in what could be a very dangerous situation, cold and alone.
Noah Makwe doesn't want to keep Gwen from doing her job, but he's not sure he can trust her, and anyway he is not supposed to be letting people into his closely held secrets.
After this things get exponentially hotter until they explode out of control! My first shifter book that doesn't involve Werewolves, Just Right is smoking HOT, sexually charged, and funny in moments. I love the beauty of Bronwyn's writing, the low level angst, and the description of the Upper Peninsula. A definite 5⭐ treat!
Enthralled! More bear please! Although I’m a huge rom-com girl, I couldn’t help but love this bear shifter romance set in the wilds of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This book is smart, sexy, and funny; which are my tried and true hallmarks of a great romance. Bronwyn Green made the implausible completely believable, with enough detail to keep me engrossed in the unlikely romance between Noah Bear and Gwen the scientist. Noah and Gwen are co-workers who soon become lovers after they try and fail epically to resist their baser instincts. Providing comic relief and scorching hot heat to the story are “cousins” Quinn and Lucas who happen to be lovers and also shifter bear “cubs”. I loved this book, and I can’t wait to read more from this world!
This book had me taken in since I started it. Gwen and her anger at Noah for not allowing her to do her job, plus her late night dreams. What a recipe for love. I’m sure hitting a bear and wrecking her jeep was not her plan that day but she sure got her desire to study the black bears. The way she responded to Noah was burning up my kindle. Little did she know having someone watch would lead to her being with Quinn and Lucas too. Although Noah is her love a little extra every now and then keeps it interesting. Bronwyn has always been one of my favorite authors and I will continue reading her books as they pull you in and you feel like your in the forest or the room with the characters
Wow! Just wow! I loved the original version of this book but this rewrite blew my mind! Bronwyn’s skill of making a short story feel like a full length novel never ceases to amaze me, she’s just so good! I honestly think I mention that in every review for her, but it’s so true. She somehow manages to keep it from feeling rushed and disconnected like so many writers do when trying to write a novella. I loved the characters, the dialogue, and the sex was so hot! A great, fun, steamy read!
This book was a hot new take on the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. The two main characters were each likeable in their own way, but i particularly enjoyed the, *ahem*, supporting characters. The overall story was surprisingly well rounded for a novella, and all the "dirty" scenes were surprisingly HOT. If you don't like steamy, multi-participant action, then stay away. But if you do, GET THIS BOOK. And without trying to spoil the ending, I'll say, just like in the original story, Goldilocks eventually finds something that's "Just Right"
I initially read this short and steamy bear shifter novella at the beginning of the year and it’s stuck with me ever since!
This was my first read from Bronwyn Green and I enjoyed it so much!
This book is a naughty twist on Goldilocks and the Three Bears: Gwen gets stuck in a cabin with three men - her arch enemy boss Noah, pierced Lucas, and goofy Quinn. Which one will be just right for her? She better test them all to find out😉
This book is SUPER hot, sexy, dirty, and all of the things I love. It’s a great read and I can’t wait to find more Bronwyn Green! 5 Stars ⭐️ for Just Right!
Goldie and her three bears 2020 style! I really enjoyed this spicy escape. Noah has a secret he must keep from Gwendolyn; however, during a snowstorm all bets are off. The bears out of the bag so to speak and now she's stuck with not one but three gorgeous shifters. You could feel the heat and tension between Gwen and Noah immediately. His cousins were fun and added to a particular intense chapter. Great writing! Looking forward to more from this author!
I've not read a paranormal or shifter book before so I was admittedly apprehensive. I came across this author through another group.
This book is 5 alarm hotness erotica! I loved that for how short it was there was a significant amount of "verklempt-ness" to the story. I was having lots of feeling about Noah and Gwen and their unspoken feelings and I found myself yelling at the book a lot, "Just tell her! She feels the same!".
The MMCs are Native American and bear shifters! And to make perfect it’s set in a cabin in the woods.
Welcome to this Goldilocks inspired bear shifter romance! Might start a bit confusing with the POVs and with some workplace frustration but Gwendolyn quickly understands why Noah is so annoying. Sadly this is a “Choose!” romance but we still get a MFMM scene with the twins Quinn and Lucas that delivers the heat. Oh. And Lucas has a surprise. 😏
Sexy, grownup take on Goldilocks and The Three Bears with black bear shifters in the UP of Michigan and the biologist just trying to study bears. A short, fun little romp with some hurt/comfort, snowed in with three horny bears, and one special bear (who is also your boss) who means more than the other two, but that's okay because they are dating each other too. It's a bit silly, but sweet and just a tiny bit angsty.
Full disclosure: PNR isn't usually my jam. But there's certain authors you step out of your comfort zone for and Bronwyn Green is one of those authors for me.
This book has a fierce scientist, a super grumpy bear, and two funny cousins that bring levity but also help bring the heat. So. Much. Heat!!! I seriously thought my kindle would catch fire because of it.
PNR might not be my preference but I couldn't put this one down and enjoyed every second of it.
Some like it hot, some like it cold. You're gonna like Just Right, - but you gotta be 18 years old.
A super-sexy paranormal romance, Just Right retells the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. This Goldilocks knows exactly what she wants when she meets her bears, and she isn't afraid to ask for more.
A delightful tale filled with romance and magic, Just Right is just what you need!
I'm not sure if you know this about me, but in my paranormal reads I really like bears. And add a twist of Goldilocks into the story. ALL BOXES HAVE BEEN CHECKED. This is a super hot, very fast read by an author I already knew could spice up stories. Characters are engaging, and really never a dull moment.
