Blue Salt: A Collection of Poetry
The Iowa Chapbook Prize is an annual series dedicated to capturing emerging literary voices among undergraduate students currently enrolled in colleges or universities across the state of Iowa. Selected manuscripts are published by students in the University of Iowa's WRIT:3000 Publishing Practicum, and winning authors receive copies of their chapbooks, the distinction of inclusion in this selective series, and an invitation to read from their work at Prairie Lights bookstore in Iowa City.
Our editors take seriously their responsibility to read and select work submitted to the contest, and each manuscript is considered openly, honestly, and fairly. The editorial board is interested in work that is adventurous in form and content, effective in its ability to elicit emotional investment from readers, intentional in its use of language, purposeful in its presentation of characters and narration, and inclusive of marginalized voices. Our editors hope their selections expand the understanding of the human experience.
