A super-secret government program called Project Eve is ready to open its Destination arm and needs its first recruits. Destination only accepts women who have the "Eve" gene, and only some women of African descent possess it. Aliens from a distant galaxy have signed an agreement with humans, making Project Eve also tasked with pairing an alien with one of its recruits. Humans will be sent to another planet to be hosted. Living with an alien on a foreign planet will have its challenges. Meet Peyton Horner, a down-on-her-luck earthling who gets paired with a snarky but sexy alien from the planet Tasium.
Idrac of Tasium works on the asteroid Holis, trying to provide for his family. But he's also trying to track down the mother of his son and sees a marriage contract with Project Destination as a way to find her.
Then he meets Peyton. She's furry, equally snarky, and sexy. And Idrac finds her hard to resist. *This novella first appeared in serialized form on Kindle Vella.
This was a good start to the next phase of the project eve program in a new series. While I enjoyed the story, it was a little choppy in the telling. Even so, really great characters and star to a new adventure.
I am usually a fan of this author, who has pulled together some really interested, romantic and drama filled stories. Peyton, our Sista here is not betraying sista traits. Peyton is really forced into excepting this alien marriage deal and the fact that she arrived on planet Holis and first, her match, Idrac is an ass, no I mean really he’s an ass. He makes a deal to sell her to another alien for information about a woman who abandoned him and their child. He is heart broken and determined to get answers, but what kind of man sell a woman to “Jaba the hut”. The fact that Peyton forgive him so quickly and sympathizes with him so easily, yeah not a sista! And her immediate attraction to him, a green Spock… I don’t know not a sista! The drama of this couple running from the Jaba trying to kill them is what makes this still a good story and I finished it.
This was the shortest but most enjoyable read so far from this author. I love that they’re two misfits. They are literally two peas in a pod. I laughed reading this story. It was a quick, fun read.
I feel like the governor set him up. I think they could’ve leveraged Idrac’s lost love but it all worked out. The dinner with the president, Vania showing up and facing Godivar were all anticlimactic. I also wonder if Peyton will actually take the IG Commamd position as it will take her from her family so much.
I’m sure aliens have their own expletives but Idrac seems to understand English swear words. Wish there was a little more creativity there. Idrac also called his anatomy a dick, which is hard to believe that’s what he’d call it. A few grammatical errors.
Peyton Horner's plans for joining the Navy are disrupted by Debra Parker, the recruiter for Project Eve. Idrac owes Godivar money for her intel, but he doesn't have it. The Governor requested his participation in Project Eve. Idrac sees this as a chance to acquire what he desires. Things do not turn out as they were intended for either of them.
I think this is a good start to this series and I intend to continue with it. I am delighted that the author has made it available on Kindle Unlimited.
My mind was working overtime to figure out how they were going to make a couple out of Peyton and Idrac. It was a pleasant adventure and very sexy love story. I could not wait to see how it was all going to develop. Made me a believer thank you Ms. O'Hare. Looking forward to the next book.
The synopsis intrigued me, however, I felt something was missing. I did think both characters had funny moments, but I did not believe in their chemistry. I would try another book from this series.
I abandoned this book after reading through chapter 8 (approximately 33%). I could not get past the fact that the MMC intended to traffic the MFC. Obviously, as this a paranormal romance, in the end they will be together. But how could anyone get over/forgive the fact their significant other was going to traffic them?! Nope! I can’t do Stockholm Syndrome love. Struggle love is not cute, romantic, hot or anything.
Peyton wanted to join the Navy, but ended up with Project Eve. Idrac wanted to find his estranged ex wife, but ended up with Peyton. Can they work to build a future with each other?
This is probably my least favorite, because the pacing is choppy. I get that it’s the beginning of the series, but if the next book isn’t about the same couple then it’s a waste.
It’s straight smut, but if you’re already an O’Hare reader and curious about Project Eve, it’ll do
This read like someone else wrote it. The characters felt rushed and poorly thought out. How they moved from potential sex trafficking to attraction made no sense. Couple that with the language of the "alien" and you have a book that just rings untrue... Even for alien human romance.
I think the FMC in this book got screwed as far as Earth and how her a project Eve team coordinator drafted her to this arranged marriage. I like her because despite what happens she always turned the glass to half full rather than half empty. Pretty spicy intimate scenes too!
The romance between both characters was so ridiculous. Why on earth would you want a man that tried to sell you where you could be eaten or tortured? There was no reasoning on why the wife left and came back? Why did the mother hate the wife? He wanted his wife so bad in the beginning but dropped her like a hot potato after just a couple of days with his new boo??? Too many plot holes that could of been answered if the book was longer.
