In his first poetic release, Tremayne Moore takes you by the heart, soul and spirit. Experience the power of poetry through this thought-provoking, life changing book.
I never dreamed of being a writer when I was in elementary school. My desire was to be a singer and to be a guest performer on Soul Train (keep in mind, this is 1979-1980). Throughout elementary school, my extracurricular activities were reading (which I was an avid reader) and singing. I would try to write when I was nine but because what I wrote made no sense I chose not to dwell on it. A few years later, a family member was so focused on being a rapper; he encouraged me to write as he would write songs. When I look back at that period of my life (1986-1987), Hip Hop was starting to get vulgar and I tried to blend in. After a while, I stopped using vulgarity and shortly after, a classmate in high school introduced me to poetry. After writing this one poem with this classmate (in 1991), I embraced the concept of poetry. I didn’t know that God was going to use me to write poetry that would eventually be the making of these books. I was writing what was in my heart at that particular moment in my life while avoiding the idea of writing a book. After taking a long hiatus from writing, I started writing again. When I started writing again (this is now 2004/2005), two sisters in Christ prophetically spoke these words to me: “I have a vision. You will write something that will change someone's life, or even be quoted till the end of time.” Again, I didn’t think anything of it, even though numerous people encouraged me to put a book together. I was focused on writing to be a blessing to someone. In 2009, I released my first book which has now pushed me into prophetic destiny. I encourage you to pursue your passion and talent for His glory, and you too will be pushed into prophetic destiny. Many lives have already been blessed through the poetry God has given me to write. I pray that you open your heart to His Spirit and that you will allow Him to minister to you. Finally, I pray that you are blessed, highly favored & empowered to prosper under His hand.
Reading Vol 1:Take it from Me, and already teary-eyed since the first couple poems spoke to my life, especially as a "Dreamer" and believer! This is the first time I read a poetry/prose book that seems like someone is journaling their experiences and life examples to be the "example" for others. There is also a monologue with scenes in prose about Gabrielle; totally awesome since I was once an actress and did readings from scenes! There are too many favorites but loved "I Have a Dream" which I did on Dream4More Radio showcase dated 8/24/13: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/dream4mo... and another also touches on dreams: Where is your Dream? 5 stars. Wish I could give 10!
This is a talented, gifted brother in Christ! May he continue to do the will of God, and minister through his writing to reach and preach to many as the Bible commands us to do so in Matthew 28:19-20. I am so blessed to have this eBook version on my Kindle.
My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that I knew the author would publish more books, and they would be better. This is Tremayne Moore's debut poetry book, one of a series of three that he would eventually publish. The poems are heartfelt. I could see some of these becoming parts of a play script or short story. I was not wrong in my assumptions after first reading this book, because Tremayne has since gone on to write two more poetry books and a novel. I expect even better works to come from him.
If you have a chance to purchase all three poetry books from his "Take It" poetic book series, do so - you won't regret it. Then check out his first novel, "Deaf, Dumb, Blind, and Stupid - Michael Anderson's Fight for Life," also reviewed on Goodreads, and you will see what I'm talking about when I say this author has many more good books coming our way, and he is certainly one to watch and read.
Tremayne's Moore "Take It From Me: Cautionary Tales from a Former Fool" was truly enlightening! This was some of the best poetry prose I have read in a very long time. I felt the author's honesty, transparency and divine inspiration that flowed from page to page. I loved many of the poems! Mark my words this a great read for poetry and spoken-word lovers, and anyone else who dares to take that plunge into the deep abyss. An open love letter it is! I'm looking forward to reading the other two books in this series, Take It From Her and Take It From Him, which are currently on my reading list.
Tremayne’s poems speak volumes about his commitment to Christ, the community, and the concerns of women, and his words encourage the reader to continue the spiritual healing that must take place in today’s world. I was struck by the powerful message of togetherness and hopefulness in “An Imaginary Conversation (Part 2)”. The dialogue between the men and women is reminiscent of conversations that you or I could have had today, yesterday, or a year ago about past mistakes and future dreams, and this poem should definitely be assigned reading for everyone! Another excellent poem of encouragement is “Seasons Change” which helps us to realize that the hurts, doubts, and “…dry spells won’t last forever” (Moore, 76)!
In his second volume of poetic prose, Tremayne’s ability to articulate the thoughts of the feminine mind assures us that there are men who still value a woman’s worth! He offers an excellent opportunity for ladies to learn from this unique perspective and to grow from his words of wisdom. “A Woman’s Body” should be the anthem for all teenage girls who fail to recognize the beauty and importance of their innocence, and “Skin Deep” challenges women to look beyond the superficial when choosing a man and pay closer attention to his inward qualities.
Tremayne “keeps it real” on what's going on in our homes, at our churches, in our relationships, and on our jobs, and he offers a simple solution to rectifying these issues: acceptance of God’s Love!
