The amount of development the author put into this universe is phenomenal. When I finished reading (and I mean this in the BEST way possible), I feel like I clawed my way out of a nightmare. I was right there with the characters as they were going through hell, and it felt like I was enduring it with them. I feel like I HAVE to read book two now because I can’t bear the thought of leaving them behind.
But make no mistake, I absolutely loved every second. I loved how intricately crafted it was, I love how I was in a constant state of suspense, and I love the way I bonded deeply with the entire main cast.
This book was so well done!!! I could not put this book down. While reading it, I was grateful that it was over 500 pages because my need and curiosity for more of the story never went away. I am very satisfied with the ending, but after finishing the book, I continue to want more and cannot wait for the second book. I am excited to see where the author takes this next.
This book is so well written with such a creative storyline. I loved and related to the characters and was impressed with how their importance to the story tied together. I was immersed by the characters thoughts and feelings and felt as though I was in the story with them. I also enjoyed the dialect used throughout the book.
In addition to creative twists of fantasy and magic, this book has many great themes about real world problems that suck you in and make you think. In my opinion, this book highlights how an oppressive government uses power and violence to control based off of fear. How resources and wealth are often rewarded to those in power while the masses suffer. How a group of people have the tendency to punish or kill other people that are different as we have seen happen in history over and over again. I also enjoyed the subtle hints towards the inequality women face versus men with different treatment and consequences to the same action. How governments try to control what happens to womens’ bodies. The human instinct to protect children. How children are often more wise and spiritual than adults because adults thinking can get in the way of knowing. All very real things twisted into some enchanting fantasy that leaves me wanting more.

Wow. There's even a created language in this book! This is a dystopian fantasy unlike anything I've read before. The world the characters have to survive in is... different. Everything is sanctioned. Punishment is usually perishing. Everyone is required to go to a war academy. It's how the government weeds out the gifted.
I'm genuinely impressed with the world building and how real the characters feel. I was right there beside them, going through every trial, every fight.
I recommend this for any dystopian fan. Think Hunger Games, Divergent, Maze Runner. For Adults due to content.
I was gifted a copy of this book. These thoughts are my own and voluntarily provided.
One thing I love about books is when the world is built with such excellent narrative you really feel like you're inside the book!
This book deserves 5 stars for that and for more reasons.
I can really see this book on the big screen, by the development that both, the universe, and the characters have is something that really makes you sympathize and connect with them. The action, fantasy, magic, friendship, and even love. These are some of the things that stand out the most from “The Mage Scrolls”.
Slow paced at first! But once the story picks up! It’s got you!
The flow of the storyline was creative! It was surprising how every character was woven into the story! Fascinating to see how it all unfolds.
I think the biggest thing of the story, is the magic aspects! Tied with the hidden themes of spiritual connections! I loved how every theme and plot really had their own time to surface!
The legal aspects of tattoos and piercings was interesting! With the oppressive government! Ah !
First off A-13. Thats all. It is a slow burn, but you'll be swooning over him in no time. Anyways this book was amazing. The story building was awesome. I love all the small details that she includes and how she develops the world. The characters are easy to love with some exceptions but overall, there are so many that you'll laugh, cry, scream and worry for. I love the war and dystopian feel of the world. I desperately need book 2 like right now because I need more of it, I need more of A-13.
I enjoyed the storyline of this book quite a lot and will absolutely continue reading the series if she releases more! I did however find some of the writing style to just not be my taste, like the use of abbreviations we would never see again, having to read a sentence or paragraph twice for the translation, and some other nitpicky things. But really overall a great concept and story and I look forward to seeing what happens with these characters!
I have been looking for an adult dystopian series that could live up to Hunger Games or Divergent and this one tops both! Wow. It is exciting and magical and so real! Cannot wait for the next book!
