Rate this book
Wilma Tenderfoot's dreams have come true. She is now an apprentice detective to the famous Theodore Goodman, and she is one step closer to finding out what happened to her parents. Now a new case has come up for Theodore - actors at the Valiant Vaudeville Theatre are being poisoned one by one and the criminal is at large. Wilma may be small, but she's determined to put her apprenticeship skills to the test. Then, right in the middle of the investigation, Theodore disappears! Wilma is on her own (with her loyal beagle, Pickle, of course) and decides her best bet is to go undercover to solve the case. But will she unmask the poisoner before she is the next target?

A charming murder mystery for children with a fearless heroine called Wilma Tenderfoot. Wilma is a detective in training and it does not take long for a case to come up that needs her help. In this book stars of the stage are dropping like falling stars , and no one knows who or what is causing these deaths. Wilma has to put her thinking cap on to try and figure this head scratcher out , but with a little help from her friends and her dog Pickle perhaps she may be able to save the day. Wilma is a very head strong , confident and eager character who is a pleasure to read about. There are many comical parts in the book and so this would be perfect to read with a child as both adult and child could gain enjoyment from this.

Wilma now lives with the famous detective Theordore Goodman and has become his apprentice. Her goal to become a detective herself and find her parents is helped by her admission to the Cooper Academy of Detection and Espionage. When the actors at the local vaudeville theater become the victims of a murderer, Wilma has a chance to help Goodman solve the mystery and use some of the skills in her textbook. And when Goodman's ability to find the murdered is questioned, he disappears leaving the case in the hands of Wilma, her dog Pickle, and Inspector Lemone. Those who've read the first book know that only Wilma has the talent to help Goodman. But when Wilma goes undercover and becomes an actor at the theater, it appears that she, too, will be a victim.

Barbu D'Anvers and his sidekick Janty appear once more to add havoc to the solution to the mystery. When D'Anvers takes over the theater, it appears that he must be the murderer. It seems, however, that the only thing he is trying to kill is Goodman's reputation. As actors continue to fall victim, Wilma must help Goodman solve the mystery and protect his name.

This is an excellent read, but I prefered the adventures of Edgar and Ellen(Written by Charles Ogden),because it created a clearer image and it had better discription. Also when a image is created in my head by this book it's so different to what I see in the book's illustrations...>.<

It was a really good book to me, the funny stuff was like the story that Wilma gave the judges to get into the place.

This is such a sweet little girl, I love how she is always asking questions and trying to understand what is going on around her. There are some parts that seem a little dark for for young the writing is, like murders and such, but other then that, I believe it was clean. Definitely something I would let my siblings read once they are of age.

Ten year old me, a die hard fan of Trixie Belden and Roald Dahl, would have loved Wilma Tenderfoot and her crazy adventures.

In the second book in this series, Wilma is now Goodman's official apprentice and, with Pickle in tow, they're called in to investigate a string of murders on Cooper Island's only stage, The Valliant Vaudeville Theater.

I LOVE that not one, but multiple people are murdered in this story, just like the first. It is true murder and mayhem whenever Wilma's at the theater!

Of course Barbu and Tully and Janty get invoved by buying the theater and planning to milk the murders for as many ticket sales as they can.

Can Wilma and Pickle figure out who -- and what -- is poisoning the thespians? Can they thwart Barbu's evil plan -- again? And more importantly, will the show go on -- even if the actors keep dropping dead like flies?

A wonderful sequel.
