Islander

Rate this book
The Islander is a reclusive, introspective individual living on the outskirts of society. Everyone he has cared for has come to ruin, and he interprets life according to old mythic allegories involving light and darkness, good and evil. He knows that he is followed by the unseen subordinates of malice who despise himself and his ambitions. Demons in many forms and guises continually mock and oppress him. Then he stumbles across his female counterpart through blind chance and forms an alliance apart from the mainstream of humanity. When circumstances beyond his control force him to emerge from isolation, he slowly discovers that he has unwittingly acquired the capacity to help the strangers he encounters in their time of direst need. He also learns that the demons are still with him.
