I originally bought this book because the author was at Borders doing signings, it has a horse on the cover (and yes, it has horses inside!) and because it is based around the same area I live. I am not a Christian but certainly could appreciate the descriptive appreciation of nature that this book is based around.

This book reminded me of books I used to read years ago before life got so much busier and complicated. It is wordy and breathy and goes into fine minute details that need the reader's attention to really savor.

It is the story of a man who takes a journey to an island to rehash his past and how he came into himself in the Lord. That journey took him from a life of wildness as a young man to one of balance, imperfect as life is. Once I got into the book it held my interest and it certainly kept me guessing. I kept waiting for something "awful" to happen which is so common in books :).

Because I live with the "strong silent type" I found it quite interesting that men actually maybe think of the things the author's character thought about. Do guys really think this deeply? I guess so...:)

It is a book anyone could read as although it speaks of "immoral" struggles it doesn't go into detail. It is the story of one young man's journey "home".

I found myself excited to continue reading and didn't want to put it down. The characters made it easy to become emotionally attached. Loved this book! Totally real to life which made it so wonderful to read. This book is one of my new #1 reads! Thanks Brett Champan for the book!

This is a beautifully written book.the way he describes his scenes was well done and that is about all l can say. At the halfway mark l started to flounder when l saw where this was going. Some of the references became a bit cliche and l had to read it in one sitting, as l knew if l put it down l would not restart it.
For someone who had drifted from their spiritual path, or needed an affirmation of the life they lead it would be very inspiring . But for me it all became all a bit too much and when l finished l felt like l should check my self for bruising because of my self imposed bit of bible bashing.
Oh the other thing l did enjoy was the reflecting on his past and how he used that as a catalyst to change his future.Even us heathens can realize the sense in that.
Not such a good read for an Atheist.

l received this book through Goodreads giveaways (thanks guys)

Honestly I think this book was written more for adults. Not that I wasn't mature enough to handle it or anything. The plot just didn't move fast enough to keep me interested and the characters were kind of dull. It wasn't horrible but it could have been much better. Overall it just wasn't my style.
I received this book from a giveaway.
