This year's guide features new information on the Dalmatian islands, westward-looking Lviv and Kyiv, and all sorts of up-and-coming neighborhoods like Uzupis in Vilnius and Metelkova Mesto in Ljubljana. So whether you'd rather attend the opera in Romania or decipher the menu in Warsaw's milk bars, Let's Go's on-the-ground coverage can show you the way to what's fun, what's fresh, and what's free.
A nice little time capsule into travel into this region circa 2009. I enjoyed getting to "travel" via a book as it's something I have missed during the pandemic.
It was intended for people traveling "on a budget", so hostels and private room arrangements are heavily featured. I enjoyed looking up interesting locations to see if they were still in business in 2023; some actually still were!
The book inexplicably skips most of the Balkan nations that comprised the former Yugoslavia and features Moldova and Belarus only as "access points".
