Scooby-Doo! Picture Clue Books #20

Scooby-doo Picture Clue #20: The Christmas Cookie Case

Rate this book
SCOOBY-DOO is an 'Ameri-canine' icon, the most beloved cartoon pooch of the past three generations. The snack-sniffling sleuth and his pals are in the midst of a huge popularity and awareness upswing

The Picture Clue books are based on the traditional "rebus Reader" - using a picture as a tool for learning a word. On the sample spread, you can see where a picture is substituted for a word. This gives a young reader a sense of pride that she is "reading" the story. All pictures and vocabulary are on flashcards at the end of the book.

Scooby and the gang are at the North Pole helping Santa get ready for Christmas. Scooby and Shaggy helped bake cookies, but now they're all gone! Who took the cookies? It looks like there's a mystery to solve!

My children love these little books. They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them. Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read short-stories to my children that are clean and respective.

We love all things Scooby-Doo, so whenever we find a Scooby-Doo book we haven't read yet at our local library, we just have to borrow it.

This is a fun book in the Scooby-Doo! Picture Clue Books series. Our girls are getting to be very proficient readers, so it's doubtful that we'll read too many more of these rebus-based books, but in the meantime, we enjoyed this one.

It has a fun Christmas theme and there's no villian in a costume chasing the gang around. The narrative is simple and the illustrations are typical for the series. It's a good book for beginning readers.

This is a picture reader; meaning there are small pictures of words within the text so little guys can help read this story. Instead of it saying "Scooby' there is a picture of his face, or 'door' a picture of a door etc. A first beginning step to reading. Helping little guys self esteem by knowing they can help read a story.

This story also doesn't have any monsters or 'scary' things in it so little guys that normally get scared with Scooby Doo don't have to worry about this book.

Sadly this book wasn't very good. Some of the pictures were really hard and I actually had to look at the cards in the back to figure out what the pictures stood for so I could read the book. Also the story was really weak and mostly just consists of Shaggy and Scooby finding people and wondering if they ate or hid the Christmas cookies. I was not impressed with this book and wish that it had been better.

My son is 3 and he LOVES the picture clue books, all of them! What a great introduction to reading tool- he can actually read along with me, and I find he reads them again alone later and knows the words in between the pictures- score! Recommend this series for the 2-3 year age group for sure!

I like that there are pictures mixed with words so it makes it easier(?)/interesting to read. I read it with a second grade student, but a first grade student could read it.
