Living with her emotionally absent father and a stepmother who spoils her, Sierra doesn't lack for material things, but she still struggles with the pain of losing her birth mother at an early age. Sierra hides her fears and disappointments behind food and fashion.

Sierra has always been more curvaceous than her friends, but after time spent at a weight loss camp, she returns to school twenty-five pounds lighter. Her sudden weight loss gives her a new level of confidence, and she goes from being sweet to displaying a diva-like attitude. Her best friends, Britney and Jasmine, are quick to point out this new change.

In Sierra's mind, her life should be more fabulous, since she is now thinner, but as the homecoming dance gets closer, she still hasn't been asked to attend. Jealousy sets in as Britney and Jasmine excitedly discuss their wardrobe for the upcoming dance.

Determined to win the attention of the new guy at school, Sierra goes on a quest to lose more weight by any means necessary. Will Sierra realize, before she destroys her health, that it's not her size that'll attract guys?

Drama follows the three friends into their sophomore year. Once again, their friendship is tested. During the growth process, Sierra learns the importance of being average-size and healthy, rather than starving to be paper thin.

An excellent book! Composed of issues teenager face today! Also this book is a great way to teach people that being thin doesn't give you the happiness that you thought it would give.

I remember reading this book in middle school, and I loved it so much! As a chubby pre-teen I really related to Sierra, and the message of the overall novel was one I really needed to hear. Plus the romance in this one is so sweet!

I was actually anticipating this third volume of THE LIP GLOSS CHRONICLES. In the past, readers got to see inside Jasmine and Britney's minds. Now, Sierra finally gets her turn.

Sierra's step-mom, Maria, has always been on her for her weight. Over the summer, Maria makes Sierra attend various retreats to work on her weight issues. So, it's with a new body and tamed hair that she returns to Plano High as a sophomore. Sierra was always second best when it came to guys, but now she's getting noticed.

Her BFF, Jasmine, is just a little bit jealous of the newfound attention Sierra is getting. Britney, as always, is stuck in the middle of the bickering. The only thing Jasmine doesn't seem to be upset about is Sierra and Cecil (Jasmine's tutor, who suddenly got hot over the summer) hanging out.

As with the previous two volumes in the series, the reader can expect ups and downs. There will be (of course) boy trauma. A family will fall hard financially. But through it all, the friendship that Sierra, Jasmine, and Britney share will bond them together.

I'm not certain this is the final book in THE LIP GLOSS CHRONICLES, but if it ended here, it works. Readers get to see inside all three girls' heads and follow them as they each deal with realistic life issues. I enjoyed the previous two novels a lot, but I think Sierra felt the most real and relatable for me. I think PAPER THIN wraps up the series nicely.
