Goodness, after this book, I wouldn't mind being carried in the arms of a Shadow Dancer :)
This is the first book I've read by Ms. Burke, and definitely not the last I think. I started in the 3rd in the series, but it was very easy to follow the character development. I fell in LOVE with the main characters, both alone because they felt cast off by others, were made to feel different, and felt that was their lot in life. I'm happy to read that even in the midst of the differences, their acceptance of those who were different lead to their mutual caring, friendship, and eventually admiration and love. I love the word mate used in this fantasy novel, because it conveyed a great deal more than the word lover, at least to me!
The ending was, of course, leaving the door wide open for a sequel (after all, this IS #3 in the series), so I'm on my way to finding the other books in this series! I also have Absolute Perfection by Ms. Burke, so I am eagerly anticipating reading this one too!!

I did not read the first two books in this series and after this I probably will so that I can get to know this storyline better before going forward. This does end with a cliff hanger and unresolved issues.
