Running from a lover that has twisted her very nature, Lena Townsend hunts on her own.

Lena has been the object of many desires. Now she is all too aware that being an obsession can be deadly. Her mildly adventurous sexual life reached its pinnacle, and its end, when she met sexually dominant vampire Darien. He stole her life, and used her sensual nature to bend her to his will. In making her his own, he placed her in a position where she must constantly submit to him, yet be dominant to his pack. It’s a conflict that pulls her apart.

In leaving the pack, Lena strives for independence, but her vampire instincts push her to find more – to find a new pack, a new family. Alone, she cannot share what makes her vampire, and she cannot find a lover she can trust enough to reveal her submissive nature.

In her escape Lena discovers a power that could save her – the ability to read and influence emotion. With this talent she might survive the loneliness.

Unfortunately, her old pack wants her back, no matter what.

Richard Heron has given up everything for his daughter since the murder of his wife, but what he misses most is the chance to explore his deeply sensual side once again. Once the owner of a popular S&M club, and its favored dom, he left everything he was to shelter his family. Lena could offer him more than he ever expected, a level of sensuality he never knew existed and a love that could never die, but he must reconcile the danger she brings with his need to shield his family – especially when what killed his wife was certainly not human.

In a flight that leads her thousands of miles from her territory and into the province of a dragon, independence is not what Lena expected. But if she can finally learn to trust, she can find harmony with her submissive and vampiric natures, and join with Richard into a new blend of family – a Dark Harmony.

To My I’m really excited to bring you Lena and Richard’s story! In a world where nightmares sometimes sneak up on us, it’s wonderful to find a place where the good guys still win – even if they do have fangs.

Dark Harmony by Lilly Cain Excerpt

Chapter One
London - Spring, 1981

Helena laughed and then pressed closer to her dancing partner. Every curve of her body that touched his sent quivers of desire through her. Darien danced slowly, swaying his tall, muscular frame against hers, his hands caressing her back through her thin cotton blouse. She’d found out already he wouldn’t dance to the hard, fast songs, but the power ballads had him leading her to the center of the dance floor. With his long blonde hair and piercing eyes, he looked like he could be one of the singers, a heavy metal god.
‘Loving you Sunday Morning’ floated out on the speakers, encouraging the dancers to cuddle their partners closer. Couples crowded the small dance floor as The Scorpions and their persuasive guitars invited the crowd to consider sweet, slow-paced sex. God knew Helena was considering it.
The aroma of exotic spice rose from his skin. She laid her face against his chest to draw his scent deeper into her body. It had definitely been worth coming out tonight, her last night in London before she returned to her job in the United States. Appearing from the crowd he had walked toward her through the packed dancers as she had come in the door, people moving aside to let him pass. The pounding music swirled around him like fog, parting for the deep timbre of his voice. While she didn’t usually go for blondes, his height and his velvety bass voice caught her attention as no man had in some time. They’d danced for hours now, his interest never waiving.
The song drew to a close and he held her, looking down into her face. His eyes were dark, his pupils huge despite the flashing dance lights. His lips held a soft smile.
“Let’s go for a walk.” His deep voice vibrated through her, starting a resonance low in her belly.

This is a fairly dark read. Was interesting and hot of course. Starts with menage and group sex with blood play, then changes when Richard and Elena meet. It will be interesting to see how some of the things brought up in this book play out in later books. I added the tag BDSM but it's super light and there are confusing parts...Richard is supposedly a Dom, it is talked about that he had a club, however in this story he was not a Dom at all. I enjoyed how Elena grew in this story and how it was still difficult to see things that she used to do and that she still felt like she would want to do. (having sex while draining someone to death)
There is an end to this story, Yay something sadly lacking in many books out there now, but you can tell there will be more stories coming. I will be continuing with this series.

Review by Jen: When Red Sage sent me a copy of this ebook, I was curious about it. But had several other reviews that needed to be done first, so it got pushed to the wayside. But as I was home sick today, I pulled out my new nook and started to read. I was drawn in to the story from the start as Lena is a young woman, alone in the world and overwhelmed by a stranger. Soon we jump ahead a couple decades and we meet the vampire that Lena has transformed in to. She's killed in the past, but realizes that she doesn't have to live that way and breaks from her master and pack. She's again alone in the world, and she meets Richard while at a bar and is immediately drawn to him. And then the story really takes off.

I haven't read many books with a vampire heroine and a human hero. All too often, if the woman is vampire, then the man is as well. This was an interesting, and refreshing, twist. Lena is a woman who can take care of herself, but is tired of being along. But she doesn't want another pack, she longs more for a family. Then she meets Richard, a man who challenges her and can provide that family she's longing for. It makes quite the intriguing plot. Of course, what vampire story can be complete without some sort of villain. Enter Darien, Lena's former master, a ruthless vampire who wants her back in his pack or dead. And he's willing to follow her across oceans to find her.

At times the story was a little more violent than I like. And a few of the sex scenes pushed some boundaries as the author explored the S&M, dom/sub world. But I found myself riveted to the story and couldn't put the book down until I was finished. If you're looking for a vampire story with a bite and a bit of a twist, then this one is for you.

This book is currently only available as an ebook at Red Sage.

Helena Townsend, hoping to dance away her loneliness for a few hours at a club, finds her hopes more than fulfilled as she dances the night away in the arms of a tall blond stranger. She makes a dangerous and life changing decision, willingly going with him to his hotel, with no idea that he is the leader of a vampire pack, and she has been chosen to be his mate. There she is engulfed in a totally amazing scene with the whole pack as she becomes a vampire and pack member.

For years she hunts with the pack, killing and feeding when she must, and hating more and more the blood taking, and the humiliation demanded by the dominant pack leader.

How she escapes and becomes Lena, who no longer kills to feed, how she is hunted by the pack on two continents, how she meets and falls in love with Richard Heron, a human whose wife has been killed by vampires and who teaches her submission without humiliation, and how she protects those she loves are all part of this absolute page-turner of a story. It is absorbing on several levels, for its extremely well done erotic scenes, for its emotional intensity, and for its fast and exciting pace. Lilly Cain has a gift for putting the reader in the middle of the action, and there’s lots of action of all kinds to be in.

Dark Harmony by Lilly Cain is one hot read. You want vampires? It’s got ‘em. Want sex so hot you’ll drool? It’s got that, too. Maybe a little BDSM interests you? Yep, it touches on that, too. I think Ms. Cain covered most, if not all, the bases.

Ms. Cain’s vampires are not your friendly next-door-neighbor types - they’re violent and vindictive, and will keep you turning the pages to see what they do next.

Fast paced with lots of twists and turns, this book will definitely keep you awake and on your toes. It’s edgy and slightly dark with a plot that unfolds nicely. Be sure to keep a fan and cold drink handy. If you forget, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
