Twenty-eight of the 124,000 Prophets who have appeared on earth since the beginning of time are mentioned by name in the Holy Quran. Their lives and deeds have served as a source of inspiration toall following generations of man, and have been retold and rewritten countless times. The stories presented in this book are translated from older texts within the Islamic tradition, from Arabic and Turkish sources. it is hoped that some of their perennial freshness is successfully transmitted, reminding the reader of the undying source of all revelation.
This is an exhaustive compilation of the lives the prophets of Allah. I read this myself some years ago. I narrated bedtime stories from this for my children.
Now we do history as part of our homeschooling curriculum. First we did 'The History of the Ancient World by Susan Wise Bauer and now we are doing 'Our Young Folks' Josephus: Antiquities of the Jews and the Jewish Wars'. We did a litlle bit of the latter book then stopped and read the 'Lore of light' in detail. This helps us compare and contrast Islamic history, Islamic values. Also we get a good idea of the time frame and geographical locations of all the places.
I have classified this book as fiction as a caution to read it with a pinch of salt. No doubt the stories about the prophets are very interesting and plus, it is easy reading but the thing that bothers me most about the book is there is no authentic sources to any of the narrations.
