Rudi Falkenhahan was one of Germany's most decorated soldier in World War II. Although he was a major in the SS, he never joined the Nazi party. After Falkenhahan was captured, he and an American escaped together from a prison camp five years after the war by removing the bodies from coffins, being buried, and then digging themselves out.
-- The other side of the war, the side we seldom read about.
-- The author did his research for this book while in the U.S. Army in Germany.
