Hiku The Penguin.
Cute story about Hiku, a young penguin.
He dreads the arrival of his entire family, so he hides in his special place to enjoy some peace and quiet. But then he remembers all the fun he used to have with his family and regrets his decision to keep by himself.
He joins them just in time for a group photo.
Pretty illustrations, the penguins are wobbly things, so funny. Younger children will have a ball perusing their actions on paper.
A book that's meant to have kids appreciate the arrival of their relatives for the holidays, on birthdays or other special occasions. No matter how distressing the experience might be, there is good in it.

Picked up a picture book after attending a children writer's conference. Hiku is an adorable story about the best critters in the world, penguins! The four stars is because the ebook needed better formatting.

Relatable for little ones who struggle with family time and the loss, change and transition that follows. A great conversation starter with brilliant illustrations for a quick diversion or to break the ice!

This is an adorable picture book about the importance of family. Hiku is a penguin who wakes up in a bad mood only to find out there's a big family reunion that day. He isn't in the mood to be around others and be picked on by his family members so he hides away. While on his own, he starts remembering all the good times he's spent with his family; swimming, going to the adventure park, enjoying a bonfire... He starts to regret havign left the gathering after all and goes back. He gets there just in time for the family photo and their favourite jab at him; "Hiku, say cheese or you'll freeze!" He decides it's totally worth it to spend time with his family.
The illustrations of this book and super cute and fun. Nearly every spread has a scene filled with penguins and it's lots of fun to ask little one to find Hiku, who has a heart shaped belly. I also really love the moral of the story. I love that the importance of family is highlighted but especially that his family isn't perfect. His family can be kind of mean in their joking but the book isn't really about how everyone else should treat Hiku but more about how he should appreciate everyone else. I like that. I feel there is so much emphasis these days on your own personal rights and less on giving others theirs.
The only thing about the book I find very strange is the joke his family make about him. "Hiku, say cheese or you'll freeze!" At the end, Hiku thinks, "A name that makes your family smile isn't that bad!" I think the meaning of his name totally goes over my head so I don't really get it. It doesn't affect the story too much though, other than that.

Moodles read the first few pages all by himself before mammy took over!
Moodles said he liked finding hiku on the pages but he wished the book had been longer.

توی کتاب کثدک فقط باید به یک مسالهپرداخته بشه اینجا همبه اینکه هیکو از اسمش بدش میاد اشاره شده و هم به اینکه هیکو به این نتیجه میرسه که با خونواده باشه بهتره

Hiku Is a little penguin. He is different from the other penguins. his belly is heart-shaped, and he is introverted. But eventually he decides to come out of his cave and join his family.
