When American diplomat Sylvester Mercedes flew into Ankara, Turkey on what was supposed to be a normal business trip, he mysteriously vanishes from his hotel room. With her husband now missing for more than two weeks, prominent socialite Lois Mercedes hires P.I. Frank Johnson to track him down. Frank had spent some of his Army MP days in Ankara 14 years ago, and while he's not at all happy about going back, being nearly broke can be a powerful motivator. But after getting mugged and finding a murder at the same hotel, Frank manages to track the clues to the kidnapping down into the troglodytes' subterranean cities in Cappadocia. And that's when things really get interesting! Frank hates dark, low places, but he can't afford not to go down the maze of tunnels, if he's to close out the case, and collect his paycheck -- and return home alive!

Ed's best book i think is "Blue Cheer" but this international mystery set in Turkey is pretty good. some wild local characters and funny happenings, but i couldn;t really sympathize with the investigator too much. i thought he whined too much and i didn't really care why things weren't going his way, i just wanted him to get on with his investigating.

I won this book on Goodreads First Reads. This is the first P.I. Frank Johnson Mystery I have read.

P.I. Johnson is hired to find a missing person in Turkey. By the time he is through, he gets involved with the local police and the case turns into a lot more than finding a missing person.

Won this on Goodreads. My initial impression after a couple of chapters is that I am probably not going to like this book. Even if the plot is great, which it may or may not be, the writing is getting in the way for me and making it difficult to read.
