About the author

Andrew Joron was raised in Stuttgart, Germany, Lowell, MA, and Missoula, MT. He studied under anarchist philosopher Paul Feyerabend at UC Berkeley, obtaining a BA in philosophy of science. Joron began writing science-fiction poetry before turning to surrealist-influenced lyric, reflecting his association with Philip Lamantia. His translations from German include philosopher Ernst Bloch's Literary Essays.

Andrew Joron's poetry is not about Andrew Joron in a profoundly refreshing way. Rather, Joron transcribes the spirit of the times, channeling it through himself, the medium. Joron holds in one hand the glimmering artifacts of civilization realized and to come, and in the other the fundamental elements of which every man and woman knows s/he is constructed. It is impossible to say that Joron strives for this or that effect or message. Instead, Joron aims to send the reader straight up into the heavens that they might look with the eyes of the sun through the earth past and future. This is poetry about the forces that flow through the reader and every pair of eyes can see themselves reflected in the stars that swirl in the text. This is real poetry.
