The desperate struggle of man versus pizza dracula. The story contained within these pages is not for the faint of tummy, and though you may quake with fear and your very gut might burst at the pulse-quickening horrors it reveals, the story must be told. It is a spine-tingling fright fest of extra large proportions topped with delightful characters, a sprinkling of fierce monsters, and a titular vampire villain. This is pizza-related entertainment Supreme.
Pizzula is the first published work (self-published) from Chapel Hill, NC based author David Foland and a promising start it is. The tone is that of any late-night monster movie, applied with just the right amount of wit and absurdity. It's the story of a pizza brought to a vampire birthday party which, crust unfinished, reforms into a vampyric pizza. And that's only the beginning. The books is filled with ideas and situations, each one more outlandish and wonderful than the last.
The illustrations by Jason Strutz serve to make the read even stronger, giving it the added gravitas of being an illuminated manuscript in the Tolkien tradition. I never get tired of talking about this book, so now I will stop.
