I thought this book was a great read because not only it brings forth the closest interpretation to the real red riding hood story, but it is also a direct translation of a story from another country. It is defenetly not the traditional disney story, but instead brings forth the ideas of all the early folktales that the German culture had shared for many years.
In this story little red is taking the provicions that her mother asked her to take to grandmothers, but on the way the wolf distracted her and made her take time aside and pick flowers, while he went to the house and ate the grandmother. Little red cap than later arrives to find the wolf in her grandmothers bed and is eaten at well. A huntman later enters the cabin and cuts open the wolfs stomach and rescues the grandmother and little red and later killing the wolf.
The brother's grimm are a pair of brothers who collected all the stories that they had heard in Germany and wrote them down so that they would not be lost like so many other oral hitory that had not had the oportunity to be recorded on paper. The Brother's kept their stories as orinigally as they could, and i think that is a great value that everyone should apreciate. Learning what the real sotry was instead of just seeing and believing the disney version.
