This beautifully crafted book is a reflection guide, keepsake, and prayer journal that offers inspiration for each month of pregnancy in the tradition of the popular nine-day prayer, the Novena.
2025: I find that I appreciate this book more deeply each time I read it. Perhaps it is because my older children are beyond the baby stage, giving me more of an opportunity to reflect on and embrace the babyhood stage this time around. With my first especially, everything was new and overwhelming at times, so I did not get to fully relish the experience as I did with this new addition and the reminders in the book. Unfortunately, I am reminded of some incorrect page numbers within the book that reference prayers found in earlier chapters each time I read it.
2024: It took me far too long to get through this book this time around for my second child, but I finally succeeded, in between changing diapers and naps, and on Mother's Day this year, which I guess is fitting. I would complete the book again, although it may be more challenging each time, but I think it is worthwhile for mothers to use as a tool to reflect on and pray about their motherhood, and also creates a wonderful keepsake for the child, who is the reason for the experience of completing the journal.
2022: This book served as a good reminder to help keep my faith incorporated into my pregnancy with prayers I both knew and never knew existed. Some will debate as to whether pregnancy is nine or ten months long, but that aside, I like how those who view it as a nine-month progression can liken it to a novena. I liked that it contained room for journaling because, although this is my first pregnancy, I know each pregnancy is different, so the space allowed for my own words gave me the opportunity to personalize this journey. If I am able to have future children, I do plan to purchase additional copies of this book to complete for them.
