A companionable read. For the progressive Christian several of the issues addressed were settled and kind of old hat -- equal marriage, racism, feminism. Forbes's takes on the immorality of war and the need for earth care were more interesting tho the examples show the book's age. Rev. Forbes book is as insightful as his preaching. Be sure to read his Introduction and Epilogue. I enjoyed his writing on the story of Abraham, especially on the joy of father and son for the "ram in the bush."

A very solid review of progressive Protestant response to current ethical issues by one of America's most acclaimed preachers. I'm going to use some of the ideas here in a sermon on Sunday. "Imitation is the highest form of flattery."
