Finding out I am an omega in a world ruled by betas is only the beginning of my troubles…

Alphas and omegas are considered non-humans. We're considered animals, some of whose traits we share. Furry ears and tails, anyone? Oh, and also mating cycles.

That's right.

Fun.

Not something I thought I had to worry about. See, I thought I was a beta. I thought I was human. I thought I was safe.

And things only get worse from there.

My parents are killed by a pack of rogues and I run away, heading to the city—but there I'm captured and sent to the Golden Cage.

A place where omegas are kept to be sold to an alpha pack.

To the highest bidder.

I came to the city to find a gang of boys I met many years ago, to beg them for help, but instead, I'm being sold to an unknown pack, the choice not up to me.

What are the odds that the gang of boys I once knew, all grown-up now, would bid for me?

Caged is a full-length Reverse Harem Omegaverse standalone novel. No shifting happens in this book. It contains M/M and steam.

Three "can't really remember but can't really forget" stars ☆☆☆

First omegaverse of the year! I enjoyed it. I read this in the space of just a few hours and felt all the feels- the tinglies, the increased heart rate, the heart pounding! I remember it all.

What I don't remember is what CAUSED me to feel that way. I don't remember the details of this book. I hate that- maybe one day soon I'll do a reread and try again. As for now, this is a solid three star with some pretty steamy scenes! Do I recommend this? Yes, if you're into smutty omegaverse books!!

I will keep this review to generalities to avoid spoilers. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more about the characters in this expanding world and series.

This was a wonderful spin on the omegaverse genre. The characters were complex and the plot original. The mystery kept me engrossed in the story from the beginning. The dynamic between the characters was excellent. I really felt for the plight of the omegas and alphas both. If you are familiar with the omegaverse trope, you know this is unusual. I really loved the bond between the guys themselves. It was an established brotherhood before the omega entered their circle and she only strengthened their relationship.

A terrific read.

The omegaverse world needs this unique take from Mona Black. Not quite shifter, not quite human, the alphas and omegas of this universe are seen as non-humans. They are all born ‘normal’ and mutate with animalistic traits when they reach maturity. They go from the beta ‘human’ who rules society to an underclass citizen who must scratch out an existence. There is safety in alphas bonding as packs, and betas have determined omegas can only be safe if they control their destiny by auctioning them off to appropriate packs. Otherwise, the omegas risk being r@ped and used by rouge alphas. Thus, the Cage was created to house the omegas and prepare them for auction. Of course, the betas must profit from supplying the packs with their omegas.

Some typical OV elements are present: packs, scent matching, mating bites, heats, and knotting.

This is a fast-burn romance that is scorching hot. The pack is driven by insatiable lust during Ella’s heat and succumbs to both her need and the impulse to bond. I’m talking chapters of heat-induced smut as their animal instincts take over. Delicious. There is MM. And lots and lots of dirty talk.

It was an absolute pleasure to read. I have read my fair share of OV and loved the uniqueness of Caged. I hope Mona revisits this universe in the future.

I must admit, it took me quite a while to finish this, where normally it would have taken a day or two to complete. The premise of the story was good and what initially drew me in. I think this could have received a four-star rating but the story dragged for me and a few other notable problems.

The h (Ella) had the potential to be so much more but she came across as a child trying to broadcast matureness. Maybe that was the intention of the author but I found myself rolling my eyes quite a few times at her inner dialogues and actions. I wanted MORE. Her character could use some work.

As for the H's, they all had significant past traumas that I looked forward to delving into so that I get more of a feel for the characters. They acted like the typical boy on the cusp of manhood, hotheaded, rebellious, hardworking, and surprisingly working well as a unit. Unfortunately, we didn't get that reflection into their past, it was all surface-level information, though at times I did feel for their individual circumstances. They were more fleshed out than the h in my opinion. But, their revelations, and their healing centered around their omega, Ella, which I didn't feel warranted their apparent ease by the end of the book. The author did a good job of packing so much into one book but that also brings in the con, it wasn't enough the first harem could have used two books so that the readers get a well rounded conclusion.

Peppered throughout the story words were misplaced or weren't needed. More than enough grammatical errors. And some of the scenes felt disjointed, it felt certain aspects were inserted after the fact and didn't meld well with the rest of the action. Hopefully, the author does a final or two read through to catch these errors to help the story flow smoothly. Overall, loved the world and concept.

This is Book 1 of Golden Cage Omegas and focuses on Ella who realizes she's an omega after her parents are killed. The plot itself was a bit different from what I've read previously in omegaverse books. Ella knew her guys from when she was younger - though there was a bit of confusion on my part as to how old she was and how old they were. They were alphas already, but it seems neither she nor her parents could tell which seemed odd because they were very young to be out on their own. When they spent time together, they came to care for each other and the boys promised that they'd come back for Ella but they never returned.
When her parents die, she goes to the city in search of them and ends up locked up at an omega facility to be sold off. This is something that's not unusual in typical omegaverse books. What is unusual is that the guys seem to be living in complete poverty, so that added a different twist to the story.
There were a few things that were a little off to me. The first was Ella's mood swings/character changes. Within the first chapter, she went from strong to weak and on the verge of tears. It was also hard to understand, if omegas are coveted enough by packs to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, how did these other packs just let her go, and why didn't other packs take (or attempt to take) her on their journey to/from the rundown box they were living in?
There were some confusing points, but overall, it was a great storyline, the guys were very sweet to her and they really seemed like they were made for each other.

This is my second read by Mona Black and she is now definitely my go to when I want something that is not too deep, but still packed with emotion, adventure and spice.

This was such a endearing, but adventurous story about longing for a family, loyalty, fated mates and never giving up hope. Written in multiple POVs, I got emotionally invested in all the MCs. Each carrying their own personal trauma and dealing with it in their own ways, while the rest understood each others boundaries and knew when to give space.

This was not a sappy story by any means. It was a bit of a rollercoaster. The MCs had to endure plenty of hardships to reach their HEA and I had been worried a few times if it was meant to be for all of them at all.

I cannot forget the spicy scenes. This was one of the best why choose RHs in the omegaverse that I have read until now because it wasn't over the top to a point, where I couldn't figure out the logistics of what was happening. The spice doesn't occure until about halfway into the book, but the unbearable heat and need to claim that overtook them all lasted over multiple chapters and was well written. I had to take a break from reading every now and then to catch my own breath.

This story gave a different take on Omegaverse romance. In this dystopian society Alpha's and Omega's were seen as lowly humans borderline animals. Due to a gene mutation that caused Alpha's and Omega's to possess animal like features without the ability of shifting.

Betas are considered the upper echelon of society. Betas have all of the power making Alphas dependent on them for jobs and simple provision and auctioning off Omegas to the highest bidder.

Ella's life is as bad as can be. As an Omega with animal features, she has been captured and placed in an auction. Ella is quickly losing hope because she doesn't want to be sold off to an unknown Pack losing her freedom and free will.

Just when all Hope seems lost Ella is purchased by a Pack of young men whom she never thought she would see again.

Ella, Brock, Diesel, Madden, Justice and Luke have a few obstacles to overcome before reaching their HEA. The guys made sacrifices to be able to acquire Ella, but Ella can't get past the notion that they forgot about her when they promised to comeback for her years ago.

In a world where the odds are stacked against them, Ella and her men overcome odds to fight for the HEA they rightfully deserve.

Saving Their Omega . . .

The story line gave a different presentation than I was used to seeing in this world. I think that Ella’s character was a bit immature. In this world, alphas and omegas are controlled by the betas and viewed as “less than”, more on the animal side of things than human-like, yet not shifters. Ella always thought she was a beta, so finding she was an omega was not good news.

When Ella’s parents are killed, she runs to the city and ends up captured for sale. Her only hope now is that the Wasted gang, boys she had known in her childhood past, might be able to rescue her from this awful situation. But would Madden, Brock, Justice, Diesel, and Luke actually be able to help her? Where did Luke disappear to? Could Ella count on the guys for getting her away to safety? Or is she still angry that they had forgotten all about her years ago?

The story was interesting but could use a little editing. And reading more of this series will help me readjust my hierarchy of their world which is all scrambled up in this story line. That’s not a complaint, just an adjustment I need to make for my brain to follow more easily!

Caged is a standalone in a new world created by Mona Black. The background of this story feels like a dystopian fantasy setting, a setting that absolutely fascinates me and I’m looking forward to find out more about it in other books set in this world! I was really fascinated by this story: it combines a lot of interesting tropes while the author puts her own twist on them. There is omegaverse, but with beta’s holding the most power, shifters whose traits don’t remain hidden in their human forms, and a dystopian fantasy background that isn’t the main focus of the story. I’m not always a fan of standalones, but I think the author created a perfect blend of character development, plot development and spice in this one. I had a hard time putting the book down because I wanted to see more of these characters and their interactions.

Even though this story is wrapped up nicely at the end, I’m not ready to say goodbye to this fascinating world yet, so I’m absolutely hoping for more books in the future!

I really didn't know what to expect as this is a new author for me but thought I would give it a try.

The premise that the Betas were basically enslaving the the Alpha and omega classes and treating them as less than human was an intriguing take on the ever expanding Omegaverse story. I liked that they were somewhere between a shifter and a human, but neither.

Once the story got going, while it did get interesting (and not only in a steamy, please don't read this a work kinda way), it almost felt like the plot was tripping over its own feet trying to catch up with storyline it forgot along the way - where is the missing member? Why was he taken?

By the time things catch up, the timing feels off and unresolved, more forced. It's still a good book, just not as believable in its rushed time frame. We will see if more stories follow off the Golden caged omegas.

I love Mona's books, and this amazing Omegaverse did not disappoint at all! There is a very different spin that I've never seen in an OV book before. Everyone is born, "normal" which transfers into a beta, and at maturity, you either remain a beta or become an alpha or omega. Alpha's have it a bit easier, they can bond into a pack, which brings a "safety in numbers" type thing.

Unforunately omegas do not have it easy, it was predetermined that omegas are only safe if the betas control their destiny and auction them off to different alpha packs. The omegas are not safe otherwise from rogue alphas. In the Cage, omegas are to wait for the alpha packs that bet on them.

In some typical OV fashion, we have mating bites, heats, knotting, and it's a fast burn. There is delicious heat and all of the fun things that come with it, and we get a few chapters of that!

I love that this is going to be a connected universe and can't wait to read the next book!

Definitely a whole lot of steamy, sexy, and chaos that only a omegaverse can give.

Ella who lived life happily as a Beta (Human) until her Omega (Animal features) started to appear. Her parents were killed in a fire that destroyed their home by rogue Alphas searching for an Omega. She runs to find the only men she could trust to protect her. After being caught by the Beta's of the Golden cage to be auction off to a Alpha pack she has no hope of finding them. Diesel, Luke, Madden, Brock, and Justice realize they need an Omega because they're heat is amping up. After a visit to the auction they not only find their Omega, but much more. This was a lot of sex from MM, MFM, MMFM, etc. just damn. Their was a plot, but I swear it was hard to focus on it with so much good SMUT throughout the story. A great Omegaverse story!

Caged is a different take on the alpha and omegas, and while it was neat to an extent, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Ella ends up captured and for sale when she runs away to the city after her parent's death. Now, her only hope is that Madden, Diesel, Brock and Justice, all of her friends, will come to her rescue and save her. At first, I felt like this was going to be a good book, but I became bored, and it took me a few days to read this because I just didn't feel like it. I thought Ella was extremely immature, and I had a hard time liking her for that reason. I think there is potential, because the concept of this book wasn't bad, it was interesting. Would I recommend this book, sure. Just because I wasn't a fan doesn't mean someone else won't appreciate it.

I loved reading this book. I recently found this arthur and fell in love with her book's, so anytime I can read one from her I'm one clicking it as she does not disappoint. I was amazed at how fast I read the story once I got into it I couldn't put it down. I loved this arthur's spin on this omegaverse story it had me engrossed from the start. I read this in a couple of hour's as I couldn't put it down. If your familiar with the omegaverse you can't help but feel for how Alpha's and the Omega's are treated in this story. You need to just go in blind and let this story take you on a ride it was so good. The attention to detail was on point.

I really could not get into this story, hopefully the next book is better. We have Betas who are human Omega's that are just breaders and Alphas that are strong. Everyone has to follow the Beta's laws since they are human. Ella loses her parents and trys finding the boys that came and stayed at her home. When she goes to the city she is caught and put up for bid for the Alphas. The guys bid on her and that is all I'll I'm going to say so I don't give up much of the story. You can tell this is a beta copy and not really an ARC copy from how it is written.

“Chapters of smut” I read that in a review and that’s what convinced me to read this. They weren’t lying, and I enjoyed it all.

It’s a cool concept, I haven’t read a OV like this before. I can’t believe I am going to say this, but maybe a bit less smut and I would have understood the world a bit better. I didn’t really understand much of what was happening or why it happened, but the smut was why I was there. I am a very forgiving reader, so maybe some might think it was over the top, but I liked it. So be aware there’s a lot of smut, and some unanswered questions, but the potential is there!

Escape
Ella's life hasn't been easy and escaping is all she wants. She's looking for the Wasted gang, her friends she loved as a child, but is caught to be auctioned off! In this world things aren't typical Alphas & Omegas are tools and servants. I really enjoyed this book. It's spicy, there's a few mysteries, and I enjoyed each character and getting to know their unique qualities. There's some giggles and puns too. Will Ella find the Wasted Gang against all odds and end up with a happily ever after? Or will the cruel politics tear them apart forever?

Wow, there is a lot of heat and steam in this book. Ella, an omega, whose parents were murdered. The Wasted Pack, a group of 4 alphas looking for Ella and the fifth member of their pack. But omegas are a commodity and both omegas and alphas are treated like the lowest of the low by the betas which makes life very difficult. This is a great story of survival and long lasting friendships and you will be hooked from the beginning wanting to find out what happens next.

This is a different spin on shifters - alphas and omegas. They are seen as “less than” in this world and Mona Black does a good job of spinning her tale. Ella is looking for her ragtag group of boys she knew as a child and is captured as an omega and treated with distain and disrespect. All she wants is to escape and find her friends not be auctioned off. Imagine her surprise at who comes to bid on a chance to own her. This book is written through the many characters (6) and this has that feel to it.

These guys proved they would do what it took to save a friend and their girl. Ella was dealt a tragic blow and wanted to find the boys that impacted her life. She was out of her element and ends up getting captured which turned out better than she could expect. She finds her boys but not everything is as it seems. What she doesn't know is that she has the key for them to find their last member. They had given up hope not knowing everything was right within their reach.

I think that if you enjoyed the Uncaged series by Amber Ella Monroe, you will enjoy this story. There are some similar elements, but Caged is unique and exciting in different ways. The alphas are not quite as...growly, but they are just as hungry and protective. I thoroughly appreciate the fact that Ella isn't a mousy omega, and that her pack loves her just as she is. I can't wait to see where book 2 will take us.

This has a good storyline with interesting characters, however I think the author struggled with the timeline as things seemed very confused and it made me a bit disoriented as to their history. I also thought the ending was a bit rushed and didn’t match the standard of the rest of the book. Each character was very interesting with unique ways of handling their trauma, apart from the character who turns up at the end, again he seemed like a bit of an afterthought.

'Caged' is an interesting take on the Omegaverse. It's a dystopian reality where Omegas and Alphas are mutations with animal characteristics and demeanor, and are thought less than Betas in society. While it's a good concept the storyline fell short as the plot doesn't match pace with the storyline. The characters are likable but it was difficult to be engaged in the story. I will definitely give it a second shot in the upcoming book. Hopefully the kinks will be worked out by then.

What an incredible story! Ella and her alpha's will make your toes curl as you get through this delicious tale in the omegaverse. Written with love and amazing attention to detail, you'll have a million questions in the first few chapters, and I promise it's worth the gorgeous torment to get to the end and all will be answered.

Ella has been captured on her way to the city to see if she could find the gang of boys who used to be her friends. Luke, Madden, Diesel, Justice and Brock said they would come back, but they never did. Will she ever find them? I loved this spin on alphas and omegas; with the betas in charge, everything is dark and dystopian. Still, the glimmers of happiness these characters find make this a wonderful story.

An entertaining story with a dystopian storyline. I liked the interesting world which rang true with its harshness and dark, dangerous vibe. I wasn’t totally taken in by their romance though it was entertaining to read. The revelations were surprising though I felt it came out of no where so it felt forced. Overall - entertaining but I wished there was more detail and depth so the build up would have felt more believable.

Good OV story. Some good heat, an interesting plot line, and few errors. I like that bit of destiny bringing them all together. I could not put this book down!! I read it in one sitting and my only regret was that it was over.
I loved this book so much, that I genuinely have no critique for it; I can’t think of anything I would change.
The concept was super interesting and a totally different take on the standard omegaverse (and the steamy parts were fantastic).
