Slater, by Tina Hogan Grant, is a sensual, emotional account of a young woman, Sabela, whose journey into the depths of her own self discovery is accompanied by Slater, a handsome man whose jarring entry into her life could only be described as accidental. Their sexually charged first meeting is nothing like we, or they, expected.
Watching her boyfriend board a jet for college, Sabela began to think her life could be entering a new phase. Slater is the last thing she expects in her life. Suddenly, Sabela finds herself on a dangerous emotional ledge! At first the tension in the story seems only sexual. But, hang on! It is much more!
I enjoyed Slater: its surprising story line, plot twists, and characters appealed to me! I received an ARC of the book. Tina Hogan Grant writes a well paced story, allowing her characters to grow as the plot develops. The women in her novels are not led by dominant men, but stand on their own, making decisions based on what they need and the direction their lives may take. And, their lives do not move along a straight path.
