Learning Good Consent

Rate this book
Curated by Doris editor Cindy Crabb, Learning Good Consent looks at the culture of sexual consent from a standpoint both sexy and educational. Over the course of 46 pages, Cindy and friends create a well-rounded consent workshop, with all sites set on healing and helping. In a world of shady abusers, demonized victims, and one-sided dating rituals, Consent has your back. As says Cindy in the zine's intro, "Talking about our experiences with consent, our struggles, our mistakes and how we've learned, these are part of a much larger revolutionary struggle."

This zine changed the way that I talked about/thought about/expressed/asked for consent in SO MANY ways, and pretty much every zine I've read about consent since then has 'borrowed' the questions from this zine. It's definitely still my favorite. And those questions? They're hard. And SO worth asking yourself, asking the people around you, at every turn--and not just in sexualized situations!

If you're not used to the format of collective zines, you might think of this little book as being extremely fragmented. Personally I don't consider it a problem, as it enables the various writers to cover a lot of ground from different points of view.
I found the piece about how queerness and masculinity can impact consent practices and about accountability for past abusers particularly interesting.

A great resource for basically anyone as it's written with inclusivity in mind, it's also just a really thought provoking read. I was impressed with the production value too, it's a really well made and easy to read zine.

Thought provoking in the best way. Brings up some tough but essential questions if we are to achieve liberation. A particular article in this book spurred a huge realization for me that I am incredibly grateful for. Recommend for anyone seeking clarity when it comes to healthy relationships!

A quick but powerful read. Gave me new frameworks and tools for navigating the spaces between myself and those around me. I want to be a safe, informed person in this area, and this zine was a step in that direction. Everyone should read this, seriously!

Relatively short zine.

Goes through some basic concepts but with a bit of nuance.

It is a zine so the text is often hard to read and the ordering is confusion.

Ho apprezzato soprattutto la sfilza di domande (pensate per dei workshop)a tema consenso, utili per farsi un bell’esame di coscienza e decostruirsi con tutte le sfumature del caso. La zine contiene anche testimonianze da prospettive queer.
