He's decided to give up his passion of racing, but his dreams can never be forgotten. He meets the town's new doctor and her son, and he's faced with more difficult decisions.
Adelaide (Addey) Blickensderfer is a doctor and divorcee who tries to open an office and start over in a new town when her teenage son gets expelled from school. But the people in the little town of Sweet Water, Michigan, are gossipy and she's shunned because of her son's past. But then she meets John Taylor, a musher who takes her son under his wing and teaches him to work with the sled dogs as part of the boy's community service.

A dog musher who acts before he stops to think and the Dr. who struggles being a single mom who falls in love with him. Ups, downs and intricacies of being entrenched in a very large family.
this book made me cry at the beginning, because of John wanting to win a race he makes a bad decision that cost him part of his dogs and almost died himself, this is a mistake that he has to live with, but he learns from him and it teaches him there is more important things then winning a race. moving back where he grew up to be close to his family. having 11 brothers, their wives, children and grandkids. he meets Adelaide, a women that moved there to give her son a new start. her son is a trouble child and John helps he get his anger under control and shows him love. What will happen when they get together and will dog racing be something in the future plans. when something bad happen that might cost a life will it be to much for John to handle or will he be able to over come his fear. I love this book very much and it is a great read, yes there is mistakes made but its human mistakes that is made in real life. laughs love and tears but i could not put this book down.
This was a wonderful book. John has a tendency to make bad decisions, and as a musher he can’t afford to risk the lives of his dogs. When he is caught out in a whiteout, he knows he must return ho,e as quickly as possible to prevent injury to his sled dogs. He makes the decision to take a precariously dangerous route home and not only loses many of his dogs, he almost loses his life. He is rescued by his business partner, and after some healing of a broken foot, he decides to drop out of the Iditarod and return to his family in Sweetwater. He is heartbroken to have lost his dream.
Addey is a divorced doctor who is raising a troublesome son, Garreth, who decides to start a fight with the sheriff’s son at school. The boy’s reputation spreads like wildfire, and Addey finds that nobody wants to associate with her, much less use her services.
John arrives back at Sweetwater during a family cookout, and Addey has been invited since she is renting a cabin from John’s brother, Thomas. He is immediately attracted to her and decides to do whatever he can to get her attention. But is he biting off more than he can chew with her having a problem child? How will the new doctor in town earn the respect of the residents of this small community?
Loving John: His love has always been for his dogs and being musher! After his Mom became sick it was hard on John because he was so close to her. He went off to Alaska to do what he enjoyed most and that was dog racing! He connected more with them then people! He was practice for a race a whiteout happened and he lost control of the sled and end up in frozen water. He was badly hurt, and list several of his team. He couldn't stay in Alaska because it brought back to many memories. He went home to start a new life. He still had some of his dogs left. It was a great story!
The Taylor brothers of Sweetwater are falling like ninepins, this time it is John’s turn to fall in love. A tragic accident brings John back to his hometown with a broken ankle, where he meets the town’s new and beautiful doctor and her troubled teenage son. When community service is mandated due to Gareth fighting at school, John takes the boy on to help him with his dogs - it doesn’t hurt that this enables him to get closer to Addey. A more unusual romance than the norm, focusing as it does on sled dogs and mushing, which I very much enjoyed learning about.
I love this series as it is full of shenanigans and humor. The brothers are charming while doing guy things and getting into trouble. They remind me so much of some of my cousins and uncles who would have pulled some of these stunts if they had thought of them. Enjoyed reading about John and his dogs and Addey and her son Gareth. All needed the help of the others to help them be happy again. And everyone needs a fun person in their family like Aunt Cappy!
John Taylor is one of twelve brothers. Living in Anchorage Alaska running his sled dogs had an accident and lost half his dogs. Giving up he went back to his hometown. He came with five dogs that he had left. He liked a lady doctor who had a son that was a brat. He started training the son to help with the dogs. The boy’s interest helped with his discipline. Later John married the boy’s mother.
With Loving John, we have read about nine of the twelve Taylor brothers in Elizabeth Roses Tarnished Saints Series. This series is about twelve sons of a preacher who named them after the Twelve Apostles; however, these twelve are far from Saints! Now on to see what antics the next brother is into!
John lived in Alaska and worked with his sled dogs. When he has an accident that looses some of his dogs and breaks his leg, he comes home to Sweet Water. Can he deal with the new dr in SweetWater or is she going to make him regret coming home
What a fabulous series! I have enjoyed every book so far and look forward to reading the rest of them. The characters, the dogs, the brothers antics, the suspense and misunderstandings made this and the other books a joy to read. Thank you Elizabeth Rose.
This family of boys is just plain wild! The characters just draw you right in, some are just crazy. John's story iS so intense, I honestly didn't think he could make it. Delightful series.
This series is so fun to read. John judt had a devasting loss while living in Alaska and decided to return home to Sweetwater. Addie is trying to setup her new doctor's office and deal with her son. The story deals with loss and heartache and family.
This Taylor brother is a sled dog musher. An accident while training, kills half his dog team and leaves him with a broken ankle. Returning to Sweetwater, John falls in love with the new doctor. Good read.
An irreverent romp through Sweetwater as John, one of twelve sons finds his true love in the new local Doctor and gets ready made family. Not all runs smoothly but then there are dogs in the mix and that makes up for everything.
Loving John is the 9th book, in the Tarnished Saints series by Elizabeth Rose. I was first hooked on this series when I found Doubting Thomas a free book at Amazon. For me the task that the author has set for herself by writing of 12 different brothers in a series seems to be a bit daunting, but I admit that Elizabeth Rose seems to have accomplished it fabulously. The brother's father was a non-denominational preacher who named his 12 sons after the apostle believing they would walk in his religious steps and mimic their namesakes. That isn't what he got. Elizabeth Rose has given us 12 brothers who take deliberate steps to be as different from their father as they can possibly be. She has created a preacher who gambles, an ex-con, and a stripper to describe a few. Although good men in their own rights, they certainly have their flaws and do not mimic their namesakes at all.
In Loving John we have a man who loves his dogs and the freedom of the Alaskan terrain. Expecting to run the Iditarod race he is he isn't happy to find himself moving home and without several of his team. He also wasn't expecting to run into Dr. Bee when he got to Sweet Water.
Dr. Bee is divorced and trying to make a new life for her and her troublesome teenage son. She came to Sweet Water to begin her own practice and give her son a chance to start over. When she gets to Sweet Water instead she finds that gossip runs rampant and starting over for her and her son may not be that easy. She also didn't expect to find John Taylor.
With gossip and jealousy mixed with a whole lot of misunderstanding, John and Dr. Bee aren't sure how far to take their relationship, if that is even what they have. But don't worry, Aunt Cappy is on the scene and will make sure everyone knows the truth! Got to love this character!
I really am enjoying this contemporary series of brothers by Elizabeth Rose. As I said earlier, I would have believed this to a very hard concept to make work, but I am finding Elizabeth Rose is doing a great job so that each of the brothers, their love interests and personalities are different so that each book is unique but with the many characters making appearances in each. A very nice contemporary romance series.
John Taylor is not your average Tarnished Saint, tormented by a bad decision that almost cost him his life he returns home to lick his wounds. Adelaide (Addey) Blickensderfer moved to Sweet Water to start over , opening her own practice seemed like a good idea but gossip runs quickly in small towns and soon she starts to question her decision. Once again the Taylor clan comes together to create chaos, drama, laughter and to do a little matchmaking. In every story, the Taylor boys need a little help from their family to get the girl, making for some humorous interactions. Nothing worth having is easy and the Taylor courtships are great fun, making for some great entertainment and keeping you turning the pages for more. I eagerly await the fate of the next Tarnished Saint and am sure it will be just as exciting as the ones that have come before.
